DALIDEPASS 28 or DEPASSIVATOR Ni
(code 10018 or DPR 5080)
USE OF THE SUBSTANCE / PREPARATION
This solution is used at ambient temperature with the brush electrolysis process essentially on stainless steel or
chromium for plating a nickel underlayer and reinforcing the adhesion of a thicker coating. The brush process can be
applied locally just where it is necessary without immersion of the part. Thus, only small quantities of solutions are stored
or used.

PERSONAL PROTECTION
Provide a shower, a powerful tap and sink unit, an eye basin in the vicinity of the work place and a protective breathing
mask for emergency interventions.
- Respiratory protection: during brush plating, provide an effective inhaling of the vapours / sprays where they are
created and extraction out of the premises, and if insufficient, wear a filtering mask FFP3 according to EN 149:2001
standard.
- Hand protection: wear imperatively gloves (in latex or nitrile for example).
- Eye protection: wear glasses with lateral protections or a facial screen. Do not wear contact lenses.
- Skin protection: wear overalls and safety shoes.

X - STABILITY AND REACTIVITY
STABILITY
Good at normal temperature with water evaporation for only risk.
Good in humidity and light.
CONDITIONS TO AVOID

XI - TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION
No data are available regarding the preparation. The evaluation of health hazards has been realised thanks to
directives 67/548/EC, 1999/45/EC and bibliographical data.
As the product contains nickel in a soluble state, nickel is eliminated in a few hours if it has been absorbed during brush
plating.
Nickel mostly accumulates in lungs and kidneys.

4/5
According to numerous studies on nickel derivatives, that are achieved or still in progress, there are no sure results
regarding human cancer in the industries plating nickel, manufacturing stainless steel or high nickel content alloys and
those doing machining or welding of nickel.
SKIN
Nickel salts are allergens which may cause the appearance of recurring eczemas on some sensitive people. Irritating to
skin in case of contact.
EYE MUCOSA
Irritating in case of contact.
RESPIRATORY SYSTEM
May cause sensitisation by inhalation (asthma, asthmatic dyspnoea). The problems can appear immediately or several
hours after exposure and quickly disappear in the absence of exposure.
IN CASE OF INGESTION
Pains, gastro-intestinal problems, nauseas, possible vomiting, headaches.
REPRODUCTIVE EFFECTS
Soluble nickel can go across the placenta barrier.
INDUSTRIAL DISEASES: tables 37, 37a (in FRANCE).

XII - ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION
There are no ecological data on the preparation.
ECOTOXICITY
Bibliographic data concerning nickel sulphate:
FISHES - LC50 (96 h) = 5 mg/L, DAPHNIAS - EC50 (48 h) = 1 mg/L, ALGAE - LC50 (72 h) = 0.75 mg/L.
Bibliographic data concerning sulphuric acid (concentrated at 94-98 %):
FISH-LC50 (24 h) = 82 mg/L, DAPHNIAS-EC50 (24 h) = 29 mg/L.
A pH lower than 5 is generally fatal.
According to directive 1999/45/EC, the concentration in nickel salts is sufficient to classify this preparation with the N
symbol dangerous for the environment and the R51-53 phrase.
MOBILITY - PERSISTENCE AND DEGRADABILITY - BIOACCUMULATIVE POTENTIAL OTHER ADVERSE
EFFECTS
No information.

XIII - DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS
This product and water used for rinsing must not be thrown away notably because of their acidity and their nickel content.
They must be processed within the firm or destroyed by an approved organization.
Contaminated packaging if not re-used with the same product is also special waste to be sent to an approved
organization for recycling or disposal.
Classification according to the commission directive 2000/532/EC of 3 May 2000 and its modifications (in particular
2001/118/EC, OJ L47). Use the mandatory documents to follow-up the waste products.

chemical agents at work
An appropriate health surveillance of workers has to be carried out according to the risk.
For each worker who undergoes this health surveillance, individual health and exposure records are to be made and kept
up-to-date.
