SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Four copies of the Detailed Script on A4 paper.
The script needs to cover the following elements:
A one sentence synopsis of the Film.
Ten to fifteen central ideas of the Film, articulated in as many
sentences.
Key learnings from the research that will feature/ be covered
in the Film.
Visual and aural narrative of the Film.
Film treatment and style.

GUIDELINES
Enclosed with Agreement.

The duration of the Rough Cut cannot exceed the


duration of the Final Film by more than 25 per cent.
All non-English segments and talking heads need to be
subtitled.
Any songs/ poetry used in the film, if not in English, must
also be subtitled.
Any font equivalent to size 30 of Arial can be used for
the subtitles.
The Rough Cut should be as close as possible to the
Filmmakers final version of the Film.

accounting heads in the sanctioned Budget, including

IMPORTANT NOTES
1. Print outs of all the documents must be provided on standard A4 one-sided white paper.
2. The CD with the documents should be appropriately labelled.
3. PSBT reserves the right to seek changes in the Rough Cut, before sending it to Prasar Bharati/
Doordarshan for their comments.
4. The third instalment to be paid to the Filmmaker on approval of the Rough Cut will be paid
only upon the final approval of the Rough/ Revised Cut and the receipt of all the above
mentioned deliverables.
5. Payment will be made against an invoice of the total budget, after deducting advances already
paid to the Filmmaker, up to that stage.
6. After the Rough Cut is approved, the Filmmaker shall provide one DVD copy of the completed
Film for preview before submitting the Final Masters so that any further suggestions from PSBT
or Prasar Bharati can be incorporated.

Aspect Ratio: 16:9


Sound should be mixed on both Channel 1 and Channel
2.
Any font equivalent to size 30 of Arial to be used for the
subtitles.
The Film must conform to international standard safe
area criteria: 65 per cent of active width and 90 per cent
of active height.
The subtitles should not cut on the sides of the film
frame or spill over.
The Film should have an unbroken time code from the
beginning till thirty seconds after the closing frame.
The Final Film* refers to the entire sequence including
the Title Card; Pre-Title Sequence; Censor Certificate;
PSBT Montage; the Film and the closing credits.

Persons and Services

IMPORTANT NOTES
1. PSBT usually approves the final cut submitted on a DVD, after which final masters must be
submitted. The Filmmaker must ensure that the Final Film submitted is technically sound and
the video, audio and subtitles, etc. are not distorted or downgraded in any manner.
2. The Filmmaker must ensure that all the deliverables submitted to PSBT are individually
checked by him/herself and that they meet our specifications and requirements. Under all
circumstances, the Filmmaker has the ultimate responsibility of the Masters being
submitted.
3. PSBT will deduct Rs 5000/- for each individual error (technical or otherwise) found in the
Masters and require the Filmmaker to rectify them within five working days, at his/her
expense.
4. The runtime/ duration of the Film is to be calculated from the frame that the Censor Certificate
appears on screen (10:00:00:00) till the end of the closing montage.
5. Labels on the Tapes, Tape boxes and DVDs must contain the following information:
