Lesson Objective(s):

should focus on in an effort to benefit wildlife, people and the greater Adirondack
landscape.
Introduce the Learning Activity:
1. Lesson Hook/ Intro:
a. Students will be asked to name their favorite animals that they know live in the
Adirondack Park, and then asked if they know the status of any of their
favorites. By letting students pick an animal they are passionate about to
study the instructor can create a personal motivator for the student to learn.
2. The instructor will have students open up two shared google docs in which they will
be able to see what is expected of them throughout the lesson.
3. Upon opening of the google docs the instructor will go through the directions with
students before leaving them to their own devices, checking for student understanding
at each step.
4. The students will be asked to download and make a copy of one of the google docs as
instructed by the teacher and to fill the google spreadsheet out throughout the lesson.
Provide Information:
1. All information that students will need will be supplied through the shared google
docs.
2. All definitions for necessary terms and or explanations required for this assignment
can be found within the web quest.

Provide Practice:
1) Students will be working in pairs to study their chosen Adirondack species by exploring
the Wildlife Conservation Societys (WCS) biological landscape site where they will
gather information that they will then analyze using the shared google docs.
a) Once all information has been collected from all of the groups students will be asked
to individually come up with the answer to the objective and create a presentation on
their reasoning behind their choice.
Provide Knowledge of Results:
1. Verbal feedback will be provided to the students by the instructor during the lesson as the
instructor moves about the room asking and answering student questions and checking
their work to make sure they are on the right track.
2. Every time new instructions are given the instructor will also verbally check for student
understanding.
3. Written feedback will be provided to students after completion of their presentation
through a rubric provided within the shared google doc.
Review the Activity:
1. Students will be summarizing the important points in the lesson through their
collaborative efforts in the class results chart as well as through their presentation.
Method of Assessment:
1) Completed class results chart
a) By completing this students will have shown the instructor that they were able to
successfully glean the information from the web quest and thus mastered the use of
the vocabulary which was necessary to explore the web pages.
2) Completed presentation
a) If students receive a passing grade on the presentation they will have met the learning
objectives for this assignment.
