NOVEMBER TEAM NEWSLETTER 2014

Dear Parents,
We hope your children are loving their classes and working hard. We are having some team absence
issues; please remember the only absences that are excused for teams are; school activity FOR THEIR GRADEwith these you need to be to class before an or after the event! Illness with a doctors note, and emergency or
death in the family. Nothing else is excused. TEAM dancers HAVE to be to their classes, period. Thank you.

Christmas Shows: We are really excited to see your dancers perform in the Christmas Shows. As you read in the
October newsletter we are having 2 nights of shows. Please Arrive 20 minutes early or sooner if instructed by
your teacher in costumes with hair and make-up done(info. below). Stretch and be ready to perform.

1st Christmas Show: Thurs. Dec. 18th: Glitz Cheer, Tinys, Tiny Ballet, X1, X-1
Ballet, X-3, Velocity, Xpress, Pee-Wees, All-Stars, Jr. Xcess, Xcess & Pro-Co.
2nd Christmas Show Fri. Dec. 19th: Minis, Mini Ballet, Sparkles Cheer, B-Boyz Crew,
X-2, Xcellerate, Impact, Xpress, Xtremes, Jr. Xcess, Xcess & Pro-Co.
This is not the order of the real shows! That will be handed out and posted in early December.
Overlapping Students: we have so many students in families that it is impossible to put all family members in
the same show. We have done the best we can and cannot make any changes as to which show your child is in.
Performance Fees and Costume Fees: Detailed paperwork was emailed, handed out and discussed at the parent meetings!
If you need another copy of this I can easily e-mail one; just contact me @ cdsamber@yahoo.com. If you are doing the
payment plan GREAT-if not remember first portion of the fees were due Nov.1st. If you have not paid this yet add a $10.00
late fee and get it in ASAP to avoid another fee that will accrue Nov. 21st. NO costumes or warm-ups will be given if they are
not paid for and your account is not current. Warm-ups will be here in very soon for new Team dancers.

ShowTime: Team hair will be worn in a very high slicked sock bun. If you are un-aware of how to do this
please ask a team mom, or a teacher for an instruction paper. We will also have an optional hair and make up
demonstration Tues. Nov. 25th 7:15p.m. In the foyer. Full make-up is also required (no glitter): the
stage lights drown dancers out without make-up! Dark grey or black eye shadow & eyeliner, red lipstick, lots of
blush and mascara. Team earrings will be worn, (same as past)they are $5: you may purchase from a teacher or
buy them at the demonstration.
Team Costumes will be in before the show! They may be in right before. Do not worry, and please dont ask us
about when you are getting your costumes, you will get them in time for the show! Tights and shoes are your
responsibility to get, except hip-hop teams.
Costume Presentation: Most costumes need to be steamed out so they are not wrinkled. You do this by putting them in the room
with a hot shower going and closing the door for about 10 mins. (do not put them in the shower). Costumes, tights and shoes must always be
in perfect shape for performances! Hair and make-up also needs to look professional, no hair falling out. Please understand this is part of
being on a competition team. No jewelry, and no bras may be seen.
Showtime Rules: WE NEED THE AUDIENCE TO STAY THROUGHOUT THE ENITRE SHOW!!! It is not fair to the dancers if
the audience dwindles as the show progresses. Each child deserves an audience for all of their hard work. No seat reserving and
every parent is not allowed in until 6:10! Team dancers may watch the show they ARE NOT IN! During the one they are in they
need to stay in their designated area stretching and reviewing their routines! Please discuss this w/ your student and dont allow them to
sit w/ you! For costume changes Parents of children 8 and younger only may quietly go help. We have helpers for the team dancers.

Christmas Dress Rehearsal: We are having a TEAM Christmas dress rehearsal at the
Kearns Rec. Center Gym 5670 S Cougar Lane (4800 W) for just the Teams. It will be held Friday December
5th! Please have your child wear their full costume and accessories if they have them-this is early this year so not
everything will be here, do not stress you will have all costume pieces for the shows! Please have the appropriate
tights & shoes(below), wear hair and make-up the way you have been told in this newsletter. Parents can stay
and watch. *Tiny, Mini, & X-1 Ballet performances will have dress rehearsal in class.

*Tiny & Minis Ballets: I have ordered accessories for them so you dont have to buy another full costume. They
will be here by Dress Rehearsal. The cost for the tutus, bows and scarf (or accessory) is $30. Please pay this by
Dec. 1st (X-1s accessories are free.)
Team Absences: Certain teams have had too many absences Teams HAVE to be at class! The following are NOT
excusable absences: Parties-(family parties need to be planned around dance), school functions that DO NOT count toward
their grades (ie football games, etc), Slight illness or family slight illness; Not having a ride(call someone-even your teacher
or me!) Punishment-please take away their phone or computer or something else, but you and they made a commitment to
a team- punishing them with missing dance hurts everyone else and is not fair! Especially this month as they are finishing
up the dances for the Christmas Shows- please get them to class. Its good for them to learn the commitment, dedication
and consistency of being to class every time! We unfortunately will begin to put people on probation if this problem is not
fixed. Also Excused absences are excused PRIOR to the absence! A list of the teachers phone #s are below:
