Description

The A0537292/N0101227 Netra 240 Rack Mount Kit consists of 2

"adjustable" bracket assemblies that mount to the frame and 2 "fixed"
brackets that mount to the Netra 240 chassis. A bag of hardware is
provided as part of this kit. All of this hardware is not required in this
application.
Note: Extra hardware (screws, nuts, washers, etc.) supplied in the
A0537292/N0101227 kit are to be discarded in a safe and proper
manner.

4.

A small "rear" bracket must be installed on the "adjustable" brackets as

shown in Figure 2. Refer to Figure 2 for a view of the "adjustable"
mounting brackets.

Mounting Kit.
5.

Once the "rear" bracket has been installed, loosen the screws on the
"adjustable" brackets so that the brackets can be extended to fit the
PTE2000 frame uprights. All screws are to be tightened in a later step.

6.

A total of four (4) mounting holes are required for each Netra 240
bracket assembly installation. The "adjustable" mounting brackets use
the two (2) middle mounting holes and the "fixed" brackets secured to
the Netra 240 chassis use the top and bottom mounting holes.

7.

The "adjustable" brackets securing flanges shown in Figure 2 fits inside

of the "fixed" mounting brackets on the Netra 240 Chassis. Refer to
Figure 3 for a view of the "fixed" mounting brackets on the Netra 240.

8.

Therefore, if the mounting position of the Netra 240 is position 11,

mounting screws will be installed in positions 11, 12, 13, and 14. The
"adjustable" mounting brackets in Figure 2 will be secured to positions
12 and 13. The "fixed" brackets secured to the Netra 240 chassis will use
positions 11 and 14. NOTE: this is only an example: Refer to the job
specifications for the actual mounting position of the Netra 240.

9.

Attach the adjustable brackets to the frame upright using P0601478/

mounting position of the left "adjustable" bracket viewed from the front
of the frame.

10 / SUN Netra 240 Physical Installation

February 23, 2007

Method 26-0598

10. The mounting holes in the "adjustable" brackets are oblong. Therefore,
while tightening the mounting screws, pull the bracket inward towards
the middle of the frame.
11. Tighten the mounting screws securing the brackets to the frame
uprights. Do not tighten the "rear" bracket at this time. This bracket will
be tightened once the Netra 240 chassis has been positioned. Refer to
Figure 2 for a view and location of the "rear" bracket.
12. Tighten the screws loosened in an earlier step that allowed the
"adjustable" brackets to be extended to fit the uprights. A total of two
(2) screws must be tightened per "adjustable" bracket.
13. The "fixed" brackets have slots where the securing hardware is to be
installed to the Netra 240 chassis. This allows for adjustment and if not
positioned correctly, the Netra 240 will be installed to far towards the
rear of the frame and thus create an interference with the installation of
doors.
14. Each "fixed" bracket has a handle. Orient the bracket so that the handle
is towards the front of the Netra 240 chassis.
15. The handle should be approximately 2.5 inches (63.5mm) back from the
front faceplate. This will align the mounting holes correctly. In this
position, there will only be 4 screws holes that align with the holes in the
bracket.
16. Install the "fixed" brackets onto the Netra 240 chassis as shown in
Figure 3. The brackets are part of the A0537292/N0101227 (item 1 of
Table 3) kit. Hardware to secure the brackets to the chassis are part of
the A0537292/N0101227 kit.

Power Cabling for DC Powered Netra 240 Server

1.

Power cables connect to the rear of the Netra 240 Server.

2.

Each Netra 240 requires an "A" Feed and a "B" feed from a BIP located
in the frame.

3.

The "A" and "B" feeds are provided via power cable harnesses that
connect between the BIP and the Netra 240 Servers.

4.

Power cable harnesses are normally installed into the various frame
types by manufacturing.

5.

Determine using job specifications if a power cable harness is to be

installed to power the Netra 240 Server or if raw cable is being used.
Note: The installation of power cable harnesses and how to assemble
the power connectors that terminate at the Netra 240 Server will
be discussed later in this method. Refer to the specific subsection
for installation instructions.

6.

One end of the power cables terminate at the BIP and the opposite end
terminates on the rear of the Netra 240 Server (PS 0 or PS 1). Refer to

4.

Method 26-0598

A total of four mounting holes are required for each Netra 240 bracket
assembly. The adjustable rear mounting brackets use the two middle
mounting holes and the fixed front bracket secured to the Netra 240
chassis use the top and bottom mounting holes.
Example: If the mounting position of the Netra 240 is position 11, the
front brackets secured to the Netra 240 chassis will use positions 11 and
14 and the rear mounting brackets will be secured to positions 12 and
13. NOTE: this is only an example: Refer to the job specifications for
the actual mounting position of the Netra 240.

5.

While one person holds the server in its proper location, another should
attach the brackets to the frame uprights.

6.

Secure the front brackets to the frame uprights using P0601478/

N0038288 Thread Forming Screws.
Note: The P0423636/N0038299 Lock Tooth Washers are only installed
on the front bottom left mounting screws.

4.4.2 Grounding the AC Powered Netra 240 Server

The AC chassis within a frame typically do not have a ground
designation point. The mounting hardware for the chassis in the frame
will ground it to the frame, as well as the third prong on the outlets.
Each PDU will have a ground strap bonding it to the frame. The Netra
240 servers will be grounded to the frame through the ground plug on
the outlet.
4.4.3

Power Cabling for Netra 240 Server

1.

Each Netra 240 has two AC power supplies that require an "A" Feed
Outlet and a "B" feed Outlet from separate PDUs located in the frame.

2.

Identify and locate the PDUs and outlets that are for the Netra 240
Server being installed and route the AC cords to the outlets.
Each server in the frame will have a PDU and outlet assigned, refer to
the frame configuration physical Installation Method (IM) or the
Assembly Drawing (AD) for the frame for PDU and outlet assignments.
When installing Netra 240s in an NTVW24AD MCMA frame refer to
IM 04-0946 MCS 5200 Frame Configuration Physical Installation for
PDU and outlet assignments for each Netra 240 in the frame.

SUN Netra 240 Physical Installation / 25

Method 26-0598

February 23, 2007

CAUTION/WARNING:
If adding servers to a frame that contains in-service equipment be careful to not disturb the power connections to the
existing equipment.

3.

The Netra 240 servers do not have external power switches and will be
powered up when the cords are plugged into the outlets.

4.

If new PDUs were installed to provide additional outlets for the new
servers, the PDUs will have to be powered from the AC source and the
circuit breaker turned on at the PDU.

4.4.4 Alarm Cabling for AC Powered Netra 240 Server

When deployed in the MCS 5200 solution, the AC version of the Netra
240 currently does not support aggregated alarms so external alarm
cabling is not provisioned.
Each Netra has Alarm indicators on the front panel.

4.5 System Cabling for Netra 240 Servers

1.

All system cabling connects to the rear of the Netra 240 Server.

2.

Refer to Figure 15 for the location of the system cable connections on
