GAUGE:
10 hdc + 8 rows = 4 in. [10 cm]. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the
gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials
specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you less stitches and rows to make a 4 in.
[10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger
size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION:
hdc2tog (hdc dec) Yarn over, insert hook into st and draw up a loop. Yarn over, insert hook
into next st and draw up a loop. Yarn over, draw though all 5 loops on hook.

JACKET
BACK
Ch 49 (53, 61, 69).
Row 1 (RS): Hdc in 3rd ch from hook (counts as
hdc) and in each ch across 48 (52, 60, 68) hdc.
Turn each row.
Row 2: Ch 2, hdc in each hdc across. Rep Row 2
until piece measures 9 (9, 10, 10) in. [23 (23, 25.5,

Sew shoulder seams. Sew in Sleeves. Sew side and Sleeve seams.
Sew on button opposite buttonhole.
Collar
Row 1: From WS, join yarn 2 in. [5 cm] in from Left Front neck edge, ch 2, work 42 (42, 46, 50) hdc evenly
around neck edge, ending 2 in. [5 cm] in from Right Front neck edge.
Rows 2-5: Turn. Ch 2, hdc in each hdc across.
Rows 6-7: Turn. Ch 2, hdc2tog, hdc in each hdc to last 2 hdc, hdc2tog.
Fasten off. Weave in ends.
