OBJECTIVES of the COLLEGE of NURSING


1. To train and produce nurses for the staff nurse position in the hospitals, community, and other health agencies that can work cooperatively
with the health team in mobilizing and assisting the individuals, families and communities to become self-reliant.

2. To provide opportunities for the development of research attitude in nurses for continued improvement of professional competence by
undertaking studies on Nursing Education and Practice, Management and Community Health. Further, to encourage dissemination and
utilization of the research findings.
3. To establish and sustain linkage with the Alumni as our partners for personal and professional growth as well as for community development.
4.

To encourage social consciousness of the socio-economic situation of the community through active involvement of community affairs.

Added above is to make the individual conscious of the Almighty God and His power and authority over the lives of men and nations.
Description of Learners: All the learners are level 4 nursing students who have learned the principles, concepts and techniques as well as
acquired the necessary skills of caring for women who are pregnant and with gynecological problems in the Delivery Room.
Focus of Clinical Experience:
The 4th year nursing students will concentrate on assisting in the delivery of patients who are admitted in the delivery room. This experience
provides the 4th year nursing students the opportunity to improve their nursing skills and first- hand actual provision of nursing care to pregnant and
with gynecological problem patients.
Setting:
Delivery Room is located at Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center in City of San Fernando, La Union, whose personnel attends to all
women who are experiencing labor, delivery and with gynecological problem patients.
General Objectives:
After one month of exposure, the 4th year nursing students will be able to:
1. Familiarize themselves with the hospital policies, health personnel and Delivery Room set-up, and the SOPs of the institution.
2. Apply nursing theories, principles and the nursing procedures in assisting the delivery of pregnant clients and care for patients with gynecological
problems.
3. Provide care to women during normal and abnormal labor.
4. Apply the principle of infection control measures.
5. Use of interpersonal communication skills and ethics specific to the care of the parturient woman.
