WORKING INSTRUCTION OF READING OSL
1. Turn on the laptop and LANDAUER OSLs reader.
2. Input login: administrator and password: admin.
3. Click microStar software at the desktop.

4. Input login: admin and password: admin and click OK.

61
5. The massage box as shown as figure below will appear at the display and click YES.

6. Before starting reading OSL, make sure there is no dummy OSL in the dot carrier.
7. Choose reading tab at the display of microStar software.

62
8. Then, choose Process # tab. Fill the date of reading OSL.

9. Then insert OSL card into Inlight Loader.

10. Turn Position Dial into clockwise from:
H/P (HOME
POSITION)

E4 (BETA
DOSE)

E3 (LENS
DOSE)

E1 (DEEP
DOSE)

E2 (SHALLOW
DOSE)

11. The reading will be appeared at display screen.

12. Turn into counter clockwise from E4 to H/P.
13. Take out OSL card from Inlight Holder.
14. Close Inlight Holder before take the next reading.
15. After finished read all of OSL card, choose Import/Export tab.

63
16. Then choose Process Name tab. Choose the date that has been set at the first reading of
OSL.

17. Click Field Configuration tabs.

64
18. Click button (>>). Click button OK.

19. Massage box Process successfully finished will appear at the display screen.
20. Click button OK.

65
WORKING INSTRUCTION FOR ANNEALING PROCESS OSL DOSIMETRY
1. Arrange OSL dosimetry on the OSLs magazine.
2. Arrange OSL sort by its serial number. (See Figure 1)

Figure 1
3. On board annealing OSL, make sure it is in clean from dirt and dust. If there is dirt, it
needs to be cleaned using tissue or vacuum. (See Figure2 & 3)

Figure 3
4. Tap the left side of this OSL dosimeter. Gently pull the sheet that is in the OSL and OSL
dosimeter can be pulled out.

Figure 4

Figure 5

67
5. Put back the OSL dosimetry in the magazine. Make sure the pieces are placed due to the
number at the OSLs magazine. (See Figure 6)

Figure 6
6. Repeat step 4 & 5 for the next OSL.
7. Put the annealing board that contained OSL in the annealer. Make sure the distance
between fluorescents lamp in the annealer is 6 cm.

68
8. Setting digital clock at 2 hours.

Figure 8
9. Turn on the lamp and press the digital clock simultaneously. Let this annealing process
until finished 2 hours.

Figure 9
10. After 2 hours, turn off the annealer and digital clock.
11. Take out the annealing board from the annealer and pulled out the OSL sheet.
12. OSL sheet will be inserted back into the OSL dosimetry that available in the OSLs
magazine.
13. The dosimetry can be used to supply for the customers.

69
Calibration of Optichromic Dosimeter (FWT-83) for Tropical Fruits
First, dose rate for Fricke have been determined. Then, dose rate for every hole have been
determined by the date of irradiation. The calibration conducted based on the range dosimeter for
example 10 20 kGy. If the range of dosimeter is wide, there must have two calibrations. The
lower dose is 100 1300 Gy. There have two graph bases on this calibration which are graph
calibration for the wavelength 605nm and graph calibration for the wavelength 656 nm. From the
graph, we can get the equation and developed the table. Then, unknown dose can be compared
with the table that generated before. After that, table for the wavelength 605 nm or 656 nm can
make as a reference to get the value. Percentage of the different between the unknown and the
real dose must be less than 10%. As a conclusion, table for the wavelength 605 nm must be used
for the calibration for dose 100-1300 Gy.
