INTRODUCTION
OVERVIEW OF STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS AND DESIGN

A structure consists of an assembly of individual structural elements such as

truss elements, beams, column, shear wall, cable or arch proportioned to resist the
loads forces.
Structural analysis is defined as the calculation of the response of structure to
actions.
Design of a structure is to assess the loads and to provide members of sufficient
proportions to resist the assessed loads with a sufficient margin of safety.

ABOUT STAAD PRO

STAAD PRO is the leading structural analysis and design software from research
engineers. In STAAD PRO the focus is on productivity.
STAAD Pro is designed for engineers, by engineers who understand the process of
modeling, analysis and designing a structure. Over 20 years of experience, along
with the suggestions and input from make practicing engineers, has helped make
STAADPRO the easiest to-use structural analysis and design software on the
market today.
STAAD PRO addresses the entire process of structural engineering from model
development from analysis to design.
STAAD PRO is designed to work the way the structural design office works.
STAAD PRO is a general purpose program for performing the analysis and design
of a wide variety of structures.
The basic three activities, which are to be carried out to achieve the goal, are
Model generation
Calculations to obtain the analytical results

19/11/2014

Result verification
In this project the structural analysis is done using STAAD Pro software. The
structure is modeled as a space frame and he different loads were applied as per the
guidelines of IS CODE. The critical load case has been considered for the design.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

This project is about the structural design and analysis of a multistoried
building which consists of 4 floors. This building also consists of shear wall which
add to its structural prowess.

Here we have done the analysis by implementing various standard values for the
required components such as; column thickness of 0.2m*0.2m.

Here we have given the reinforcements of various sizes like8, 10, 12,16mm etc.
We have designed the secondary and the main bars using fe415 and fe 500 grade
steel.

The grade of concrete used is M30 which is acceptable for this kind of design.
