Squeeze Belt

Important Installation and Operation information that should be reviewed during the
equipment selection process. Contact the factory with any questions.
The Squeeze Belt is a unique piece of equipment because of its design allows capacity to be maintained up to 38 degrees of incline. With its unique design there are a few installation and operation
requirements that must be reviewed during project review.
Understanding the theory of the Squeeze Belt. The Squeeze belt uses three independent belts to complete its operation.

Feeder House Belt: The Feeder House belt has two functions (both are very important) for optimal
operation of the complete conveyor.
The first function that the Feeder house belt is to bring the product up to the proper speed matching
the main tube belts. This is completed when the product is introduced to the end of the feeder house
belt and carried on the belt until it is discharged at the end. During this travel the product is brought
up to match the speed of the main tube belts 1000 to 1500 ft. (304.80 m to 457.20 m) per minute.
The second function that the Feeder house completes is to position the product between the upper
(top) and lower (bottom) belts. The optimum operating angle between the feeder house and the main
tube is 140 degrees. This operating angle allows the maximum about of product to be placed between
the upper and lower belts in the main tube. If the operating angle is increased between the feeder
house and main tube then the operational capacity of the conveyor will be reduced.

When the belt is in this or less than optimal operating angle
140 degrees then product will hit the upper belt and splatter
outside of the machine.

The belt is at the optimal operating angle 140 degrees the
product will be placed underneath the upper belt and so grain
splatter will occur outside of the machine.

Main tube belts:

Lower (Bottom) Belt: The purpose of the Lower belt it to receive the product that is placed onto it by
the Feeder house belt. Once the product is placed onto the lower belt it continues to carry the product
at the same speed until it reached the discharge assembly. Once at the discharge assembly the product
leaves the conveyor and enters it storage container.
Upper (Top) Belt: The purpose of the Upper belt is to receive the product and squeeze it against the
lower belt. Once the product is squeezed between the upper and lower belt is continues to carry the
product at the same speed until it reaches the discharge assembly. Once at the discharge assembly
the product leaves the conveyor and enters its storage
container. This squeeze action does not allow the
product to slide or roll back at angles up to 38 degrees
of incline of the main conveyor tube.

This page shows a 90 Squeeze belt in

three positions. The 38 Degree incline
(maximum), 25 Degree incline and Transport (minimum). Note the clearance requirements at the end of the Feeder
House.

In the minimum incline angle the clearance requirements will change by the length of
the conveyor. Below is shown at its maximum height and will get closer to grade with
the a shorter length of conveyor.

It is important to always have a second piece of equipment to supply product to the Feeder House of
the Squeeze Belt when unloading from portable equipment
(straight trucks, hopper bottom trailers, end dump trailers or like equipment).
Below are pieces of equipment we offer to supply product to the Feeder House.
Transfer Belt Hopper: The Transfer Hopper can be
used to supply product to a Squeeze Belt. Please
note the measurements in the chart below. The
capacity of the transfer hopper is up to 6000
bushels per hour (162 TPH). Capacity will be the
highest at lower angles of incline.
If a transfer hopper is used the Squeeze belt will
not have the option of reaching its maximum
capacity.

Drive Over Belt Conveyor: The Drive Over Belt Conveyor

can be used to supply product to a Squeeze Belt.
Please note the measurements below. The capacity of
the Drive over belt conveyor is up to 10,000 bushels per
hour (270 TPH). If a Drive over belt is used the Squeeze
Belt has the option of reaching its maximum capacity.

PORTABLE SQUEEZE BELT CONVEYOR

The Squeeze Belt product line has specific and unique operational, training and maintenance
needs. To ensure long-term realiability and customer satisfaction, the factory will only accept
an order for this product after they have been consulted and agree to the application. An
additional order of pre-determined replacement parts and tools may also be required, based
on the operational location of the equipment and number of units. It may also be necessary
to have assistance with set-up of the equipment at a cost.
TUBULAR HOUSING:

- 10'' (25.4 cm) x 12 gauge (2.66 mm) galvanized

- 15'' (38.1 cm) PVC Crescent pattern with slider bed backing. Three belts.
- Includes independent adjustable side panels, is 70 (1.78 m) long, 42 (1.07 m)
wide and 10 (25.4 cm) high. The feeder is belt driven from the main conveyor
tail pulley.
DISCHARGE SPOUT:
- Black plastic with 12 (30.5 cm) diameter round outlet
DRIVE:
- S-Drive for the bottom belt drives the crescent belt face.
Lagged drive with spring loaded take-up.
On 90 (27.43 m) models, both bottom and top belts have spring loaded take-ups.

To select the basic horizontal custom belt conveyor, the following must be determined.
1. The length of conveyor required.
2. The incline angle, if any, of the conveyor.
3. The desired capacity in bushels per hours. (Charts are based on dry corn.)
From the horizontal custom belt conveyor catalog number table, select the catalog number for the
desired conveyor length. NOTE: The last three numbers of the catalog number designate the nominal
pulley center length of the conveyor in feet.
From the motor selection chart for the appropriate incline angle (0, 5 & 10 degrees given), find a length
of conveyor longer than the conveyor length required. Use the lowest conveyor belt speed that will give
the desired capacity. For instance, using the zero degree incline table for a 101 foot (30.78 m) long
conveyor that will handle up to 3300 bu/hr (89 tph), select the 131 foot (39.93 m) length. This will
determine the motor horsepower that will provide the capacity and belt speed for the conveyor length
{7-1/2 HP (5.5 kw) at 400 FPM (12.2 mpm) for this example}. From the drive catalog number table,
select the catalog number for the selected motor horsepower and belt speed. The drive list price is
found at the bottom of the horizontal custom belt conveyor catalog number table.
Both a conveyor catalog number and a drive catalog number must be ordered.
NOTE: In cases where the conveyor will always operate at capacities (bu/hr) lower than those listed in
the motor selection chart, it may be possible to go with somewhat longer lengths. In such cases, consult
the factory for recommendations. In no case, will conveyors longer than 131 (40 m) be provided.
