Mental Hygiene
the science of maintaining
mental health and preventing
the development of psychosis,
neurosis, or other mental
disorders
(Encyclopedia Britanica)
Mental Hygiene
It is a science, which deals with the
adoption and application of a set of
hygienic principles, directed toward
prevention of serious maladjustment, and
the maintenance and promotion of sound
mental health (Gaerlan et. al., 1998)
Mental Health
is not just the absence of mental disorder.
It is defined as a state of well-being in
which every individual realizes his or her
own potential, can cope with the normal
stresses of life, can work productively and
fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution
to her or his community (WHO, 2007)
Mental Disorder
Mental Disorder
