Argument

I have chosen to write about this topic because unfortunately it has become an ever
growing part of our everyday life. The advancement of technology has provided new instruments
in the fight against crime, but concerned citizens should not only be informed but also involved
in this fight. This may be a way to deal with the permanent fear that exists in our modern society.
We have developed new technologies, we keep our money in bank accounts and we make scores
and scores of insurances for our assets and even our life. Nevertheless, we still feel unsecure,
unprotected and even a constant target for criminals.
In order to maintain order and security in our society, authorities have issued many laws
for the citizens protection. But it is not enough because laws are not a choice, though obligatory
for every citizen, authority has the right to punish people who disobey the law whit fines or arrest
them for an interval of time.
The police are a form of authority exerting control in society and enforcing the law. Of
course, nothing is perfect and law is not an exception. In that case, an institute like The
Chartered Institute of Arbitrators provides a better understanding of the law and makes
decisions concerning one type of punishment or another. This authority is helped by lawyers and
prosecutors who represent either the culprit or the state interest.
Nowadays we are much more protected than our great grandparents. Although we still
feel unsecure and a constant target for criminals we also know that there are people in the public
service who do their best to fight crime and protect the citizens.

Prcis
This project paper shows how government and parliament issue laws, and what is the use
of arbitrators, prosecutors and lawyers; furthermore, public services like police and firefighters
look after citizens and make sure that they obey the law. In this way, crime may be prevented and
the number of cases is reduced.
The paper is structured in four parts.
The first part is entitled Issuing Laws and is about making laws. Ministers make a
proposal which will be sent to the House of Common and the House of Lords in order to be
verified. This document is called bill and it is checked until it is clear enough, then it is sent
forward to the Queen in order to receive a royal assent and only after that it becomes a law.
The second part is entitled Arbitrator, prosecutor and lawyer and it explains how much
authority an arbitrator has, what a prosecutor should do if he must prove that a person is guilty
and what a criminal defense lawyer does to protect his client.
The third part of this project is entitled The police force and it presents the police
service system in the United Kingdom of Britain and Northern Ireland. The police service system
is divided into three parts for each region of the country. Each headquarter has its own boss,
The Chief Constable who has authority only in his area and has its own logo and uniforms.
The forth part is entitled Private security guard and it contains information about
private services of security. This business is very well developed in the U.K. and many security
guards work together with police officers in order to prevent crime. For a ceratin amount of
money each person can hire a security guard, who will protect his property, assets and even life.
