Ketu Pariharam
Ketu is a shadow planet. Actually the position and transit of Lord Ketu and Rahu are calculated by the meeting
points of Sun and Moon. Both of them are always opposite to each other in a birth chart. Ketu is called planet
of wisdom Gnana Karakan as per Indian astrology.
Ketu dasa comes in to effect in ones life for seven years after Budan dasa. People who undergo Ketu dasa get
lots of experiences and exposures in life in these seven years. If Ketu is placed in good position with good
planets he shows him the good and happy life. Otherwise the life is hectic and gets in to quite a lot of troubles.
Both Rahu and Ketu are influenced by the planets they are associated and give favorable or unfavorable life
accordingly. But they both are generally considered as malefic planets spoiling ones peaceful life with bad
effects.
When Ketu comes to certain places he gives lot of problems as per Kotchara predictions of Indian astrology. He
always travels in reverse motion i.e. anti clockwise.
If Ketu is in 9th, 8th, 1st and 12th house from the rasi: - Very bad time all the efforts are wasted and
unsuccessful bids are very common. Enmity and ill health would prevail and shake the business and financial
matters.
If Ketu is in 4th, 5th, 7th and 2nd house from rasi: - Money is spent for unwanted and non productive things
and financial position goes down. Earnings will reduce and loss business will make the heart lose hopes.
The best times are when Ketu Bagawan comes to 3rd, 6th, 10th and 11th places in ones horoscope and rasi.
People should visit Ketu Parihara temples during the bad periods and perform Pooja to get the ill effects
reduced.
Peoples afflicted by Lord Ketu are stricken with fears of dacoit, bad habits, loss of property, poisonous bites,

Motcham, sight, property, land, gold, vehicle, fame, wife, children, happiness, unexpected property gains are
the beneficial aspects of Kethu Bhagavan. Knowledge, business, leprosy, poisonous bites are the aspects of
this planet.
The effect of Kethu will create hindrance in one's effort, poverty, enemy, ill health, devil spirits, loss of
property, loss of face etc.
According to astrology, Ketu's effects are that of similar to Lord Chevvai (Mars). Ketu can be more destructive
if it is inauspiciously positioned in the horoscope. Ketu destroys the potency of the planet with which it is
conjunct, making the planet behave in an uncontrollable manner.

mental peace, happiness, success in court case, benefits from foreign countries, motcham, property, sight,
land, gold, unexpected property gains, good eyesight, vehicle, fame, wife, children, knowledge and business.

Temple Stories
When the Devas and Asuras churned the ocean of milk with Mount Mantara as the churning stick and snake
Vasuki as the rope, the snake, unable to bear the pain emitted poison. The devas and the demons feared the
ill effects of the poison and prayed Lord Shiva.
The Lord Shiva swallowed the poison but Goddess Parvathi rushed to prevent Him swallowing of the poison
and so it got stuck in His neck. Due to this, the Lord Shiva is called Neela Kanta and His throat turned blue
with the poision.
Vasuki, the King of serpents did penance and worshipped Lord Shiva for years, beseeching forgiveness. The
Lord appeared before the snake, pleased with its prayers. He blessed the snake to be enshrined in a temple in
the bamboo forest and relieve the devotees from the ill effects of Ketu one of the Navagrahas.

Temple History:
Keezhperumpallam is also called Vanagiri. The planets Kethu and Rahu, known as Chaaya
Grahangal, are associated with the legend of the churning of the milky ocean. When the
Devas and Asuras churned the ocean of milk with the Manthira Mountain as the churning
stick and snake Vasuki as the rope, the amirtham emerged. This was consumed by an
asura, who disguised himself as a Deva. Knowing this, Lord Narayana hit the asura on the
head with the spoon in his hand. The head was cut off and fell on the ground. As the
asura had consumed amirtham, his head and body continued to live. The head portion of
the asura attached itself to a snake body and became Rahu Bhagavan. The body portion
that was thrown away fell in Pothigai mountain region which was found and preserved by
a Brahmin. The head of a snake got attached to the asura body to become Kethu.
Besides the worship services that are offered six times daily, Abhishekam is performed by
08.30 AM. Pradhoshams are held great reverence here. The specialty of Kethu Temple at
Keezhperumpallam is that the temple remains open even during Rahu kalam and
