INTRODUCTION
This document describes how to configure the TT-3026SSA Mini-C so it is ready for position
reporting in all 4 ocean regions.
This document is intended as a guideline for distributors selling the TT-3026SSA Mini-C to
customers who want to use their SSAS system for tracking as well.
It is assumed that the TT-3026SSA already has been commissioned and a DNID number has
been requested and received from the service provider.
3(16)
DNID
This chapter will explain how to apply for DNID, how to configure it at the LES and in
the TT-3026SSA Mini-C.
3.1
DNID Application
First of all it is necessary to apply for a DNID number at a preferred ISP. An example
of DNID application form from Telenor, EIK is shown in Appendix.
3.2
DNID Account
When applying for a DNID it is necessary to have the DNID account configured
correct at the LES in order to receive the position reports in the desired format.
The position reports can either be forwarded from the LES as plain text (Latitude &
Longitude) or as a binary file. Plain text is normally used when the customer does not
want to invest in a fleet tracking software with electronic chart etc. The binary format is
normally used when the customer want to receive the position reports at a Fleet
Tracking software showing the vessels on electronic charts (F.ex T&T Capsat Manager
Fleet Tracking software).
Recommeded DNID settings:
1) Position reports in plain text
Ocean region:
ALL
Delivery Destination:
FAX or TELEX or EMAIL
Delivery Option:
IMMEDIATE FORWARD
Data Report Decoding:
TEXTUAL DECODING
Message header:
NO HEADER
2) Position reports in binary format
Ocean region:

Delivery Destination:
PSTN or X.25 or EMAIL
Delivery Option:

DNID Pre-Definition
After receipt of a DNID from the LESO it is necessary to have the DNID downloaded
to each of the TT-3026SSA Mini-Cs. One DNID can be used to track up to 255 vessels
as it is possible to have 255 members on a DNID. The owner of the DNID decide
which TT-3026SSA Mini-C (vessel) should have which Member Number. The DNID
and Member Number have to be downloaded by the LESO to each TT-3026SSA MiniC in each ocean region. This is only possible to do when the TT-3026SSA Mini-C is
logged in to each Ocean Region (satellite). As this in some cases is difficult for the
distributor to do, because all four satellites are not visible from one point, T&T has
implemented a command to be able to pre-define the DNIDs in each ocean region in
the TT-3026SSA Mini-Cs.
The reason for pre-defining the DNIDs in the TT-3026SSA Mini-Cs is to be able to
configure the reporting settings in the TT-3026SSA Mini-C before delivery of the
equipment to the customer.
This chapter describes how to pre-define the DNIDs.

DNID Configuration
3.4.1
Authorization (Auth)
It is recommended to set the authorization level to SYSADM so a normal user can not
change the configuration and nor will the scheduled program connected to DNID be
visible.
Auth = 2, for System Administrator
3.4.2
Category (Cat)
The CATegory of the position reports will be set to Inmarsat Standard Maritime
Position reporting format which will include position, timestamp, mem-code, speed in
knots and course.
The category of the position reports are configured using the dn command mentioned
above.
Cat = 1, for Maritime reports
3.4.3
DN command
This section will explain how to configure the DNID using the dn command.

Figure 7 shows that the Auth has been set to 2 which mean System administrator user level,
the Cat has been configured to 1 which means Maritime reports are sent on these DNID
entries.
Now the four DNIDs have been Pre-Defined in the TT-3026SSA Mini-C and will
automatically be active when the same DNIDs are downloaded by the LESO in each ocean
region.

4.3
The initiation of the interval program has to be done after the DNIDs have been downloaded
and the DNIDs have changed status from being pre-defined to be real DNIDs.
It is necessary to change the program from being a local program to be a remote program
using the pg e command. Otherwise it will not be possible to change reporting interval and
Start/stop the interval program remotely.
Changing the program from being local to remote is only necessary because the program was
created locally using a terminal program connected to the RS-232 of the TT-3026SSA MiniC. If the program had been created from remote it would already have been a remote
program.
In Figure 12 below is the configuration of the program shown:

This chapter explains how to configure the Ocean Region setting in the TT-3026SSA
Mini-C. The configuration is assuming that the vessel will use all four satellites as the
vessel can go into international waters.

TOTAL CONFIGURATION
This chapter is a summery of the entire configuration that has been gone through in the
previous chapters. Do as described in following section.

15(16)
Now the TT-3026SSA is ready to have the DNIDs downloaded for real from the LES.
It is recommended that the distributor download as many of the DNIDs possible from
his location before delivery to the customer. Later when the vessel moves to an ocean
region where there is no available real DNID (only pre-defined) this DNID can be
downloaded by the LES on request and the TT-3026SSA Mini-C will continue to send
position reports in that ocean region as well.
Good Luck,
Kind Regards,

Below is shown a typical User Registration form with the information that the service
provider needs to know when assigning a new DNID number to a customer who wants to do
position reporting and polling with Inmarsat-C.
Please note that if you already has got a DNID Number this same DNID Number can be used
by 255 different vessels, by assigning each vessel with the same DNID Number but different
Member Numbers.
