The HiTemp140 Data Logger Series

From the medical sector to the automotive industry, data loggers have proven their effectiveness
in monitoring and measuring a wide range of physical phenomena, including motion,
temperature, humidity, vibration, water levels, and much more. As dissimilar industries vary
wildly in their data-collecting requirements, its only natural that these electronic devices differ
in their capabilities. MadgeTechs HiTemp140 data logger series was designed to function
reliably in harsh environments where conventional data loggers would be unable to operate.
Lets take a closer look at the HiTemp140 seriesincluding the recently released HiTemp140X2
dual probe models.
Available in several different probe styles, the HiTemp140 data logger is constructed of durable
stainless steel and engineered to perform its temperature-measuring functions in hightemperature environments. Designed to endure submersion without loss of function, the logger
body can endure temperatures as high as 140 C while retaining a measuring accuracy of 0.1
C. Thermal shield enclosures for the HiTemp140 data loggers are also available to extend the
operating range even further to handle extreme temperature environments from -200 C to +250
C. All models of the HiTemp140 data logger are equipped with a built in external probe,
offering probe styles that can measure temperatures up to 260 C.
These loggers come with the capacity to store 32,700 time-stamped temperature readings in nonvolatile solid-state memory, which will retain data even in the event of battery failure. These
capabilities have made the HiTemp140 data logger series an equipment necessity in a number of
environments where precise monitoring of temperature conditions is essential; common
applications include conveyor cooking, meat processing, pasteurization, canning, refrigerator
mapping, and autoclave monitoring.
Certain applications require the simultaneous measurement and monitoring of multiple areas,
which resulted in the recent release of the HiTemp140X2 series. As with all loggers in the
HiTemp140 series, the HiTemp140X2 is constructed of a stainless steel body that can withstand
extreme temperatures. However, the X2 series features two temperature probes that provide
additional options for temperature monitoring with several different probe style combinations to
fit a wide array of specific needs.
There are three types of probes available with the HiTemp140X2 series:
TD A quick-responding two-inch rigid probe for measuring ambient temperature
PT A stainless steel 24-inch RTD (resistance temperature detector) probe with
bendable properties and a steel probe tip
FP A lightweight, flexible 72-inch RTD probe

All HiTemp140 and HiTemp140X2 loggers are compatible with MadgeTechs data logger
software, granting the user a variety of options for viewing and analyzing measurements that
have been recorded by the device.
Furthermore, these loggers possess a number of useful features, including the following:
These loggers feature tightly sealed O-rings that keep out water and other liquids and can
be wholly submerged in water at a depth of up to 230 feet without loss of functionality.
These loggers include user configurable trigger settings that will program the device to
record data only when certain parameters are met.
This rugged data logger series is made of stainless steel to withstand harsh environments
and a compact design for tight spaces.
The HiTemp140X2s include two temperature probes and channels, which are clearly
marked on the top of the device.
Stainless steel bendable probes can be safely manipulated and bent into position as
needed.
A number of accessories and thermal shields are available to cover even more potential
applications.

Capable of performing exact temperature measurements in a wide array of environments and

applications, the HiTemp140 and the HiTemp140X2 series is suitable for many different
industries.
