Assignment Policy
• Submit the homeworks and paper critiques on due-date in class. Late submission will not be
accepted. No cooperation on homeworks/papers critiques.
• Submit your project both in hard copy and soft copy on the due date. Turn in the hard copy in
class and the soft copy by email.
• Students should keep a copy of their work in case they need it for reference before they can
be graded and returned.
• You must turn in your own work, not copied from someone else’s. Any copying, cheating, or
plagiarism will not be tolerated. Please write (or print) legibly.
Paper critiques
Throughout the semester, you will have an opportunity to critique several papers. For each critiqued
paper, bring the hard copy of your critique write up to the class on the day the paper will be covered.
The critique will be graded on a scale of 1 to 5. The grade will be based on 1) accurate and clear
summary of the paper, 2) insightful analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the technique, and 3)
statements indicating how this particular technique will impact the future of network management.
Project
The project is a group project. Each group consists of several students (the number of students per
group is to be determined). Each group will select and work on one of the project topics. The project
deliverables are the project write up and the presentation. The project presentations will be
scheduled in April.
As soon as you have selected the time slot and the topic, send me the email regarding the group
members, your first and second choices of the time slots and topics. I will limit the number of groups
that can work on the same topic. The time slot and the topic will be assigned based on first come
first serve.
The presentation will be graded on a scale of 1 to 5. The grade will be based on 1) accurate and clear
objective of the project, 2) Detail description of the method and result(s), 3) Conclusion(s) indicating
how the technique benefit the network management, 4) Ability to field questions on the approach
during the presentation, and 5) Suggestions for improving or extending the method.
