incorporated by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs on 1st July
1972. BSE is a nonprofit organization aiming to serve the engineering
community in Bahrain and membership is open to all the engineers in
Bahrain. Its core purpose is to contribute towards the industrial
development and modernization of Bahrain by enhancing the standards
of the engineering professional practice in cooperation with relevant
authorities. It also conducts and encourages scientific and engineering
researches through publications, conferences, seminars, technical
visits and exchange of information with other engineering societies
and organizations. The Bahrain Society of Engineers promotes training
and professional development through the Bahrain Society of Engineers
Training Centre (BSETC).
BSE Training Centre(BSETC) was established in year 1988 and started
offering training courses for engineering and management, operating
under Bahrain Society of Engineers (BSE). In year 2003, BSETC has
obtained license to operate the training centre from Ministry of Labor.
The BSETC is a training centre conducting short courses in the field
of engineering, project management, and engineering management
as part of the Bahrain Society of Engineers (BSE). The BSETC
is managed by Training Manager, Training Officer, voluntary working
members, services of accounting, logistics, and administration is shared
with BSE management.

Green Building Design

Introduction:
Sustainability has many dimensions including the economic, social and ecological.
Besides, there is a local and cultural context that needs to be taken into account.
This implies that sustainability has as ethical and moral dimension and it should be
viewed as a driver for innovation and a catlyst for change.
The green design emerged as a response to the negative outcomes of the old
engineering thinking. It emphasized the concepts of conservation, water, energy
and material efficiency, green construction materials, and land scape planning. Engineers, professionals, and policy makers are transforming their practice to comply
with green guidelines and certification schemes as part of branding their business.
This training program is intened to build the capacity of professionals in the broader
notions of sustainability and in the good practices in green design.

in to the project, mitigating any adverse impacts and providing a forum for public
participation in the decision-making process. In general, EIAs are being carried out
by national/international consultancies, and submitted to national governmental
authority for review and approval. The implementation of the EIA in the Gulf region
becomes increasingly important nowadays with rapid expansion in infrastructure
and industrial as well as other projects within the region.

Objectives:
The overall aim of this training workshop is to enable the participants to build their
capacity to integrate environmental concerns in project proposals. This workshop
