Taboo Discussion continued.What happens when someone does something taboo?
LESSON
"Talk Around it"
Often times when students are speaking English and they dont know a word, they just stop. Instead we are
going to practice "talking around" a word. There is an American game called, "taboo," where you have to
give clues to help the group guess the keyword.
(Teacher: give each student a piece of paper with one of the following words, or make up some of your
own).
Air freshner, boat, mountains, ice-cream, radio, crutches/wheel chair, socks, umbrella, glasses aspirin,
application, box, nest, bell, period
The goal is to "Talk around it"
How is it used?
Describe it (color, texture, etc)
Tell a story
Give the opposite
Example: air freshner
"When I walk past the bathrooms at school, it stinks. The cleaning lady needs to spray ________ so it will
smell like flower perfume."
