The Visa Posting File (CTF)

The visa credit card posting file or the Customer Transfer File (CTF) from Certegy (3 rd
party card services vendor) contains the members visa card debit and credit purchasing
transactions. This file is available to download every business day, Monday through
Friday, between 11:30 and 18:30 (Eastern Standard Time). (1) An email will be sent to
the email recipient Operator confirming the file is available; (2) ftp the CTF data file to
the BSC directory (3) back up the file (4) move the BSC file (5) and then run the visa edit
and posting file.
Confirming the CTF File is Available

Before you process the Visa posting file (CTF)make sure the file is available by checking
the email account Operator.The email account (Operator) can be viewed by taking the
following steps:
Open the Microsoft Outlook program. Before you can view the email message from
Certegy you must go to:

Open the folder Public Folders.


Open the folder All Public folders.
Open the folder IT and Operator (Inbox).
Note: The email from Certegy (Data.Transfer@certegy.com), Subject: CTF file
available for 0W4. Example of email message below:
On 2/13/2006 at 02:21 PM Eastern Time, a CTF file was made
available for download.
Total Records: 186,556
Total Debits: $3,657,037.13
Total Credits: $88,021.43

Downloading the CTF File by FTP

Once the Visa posting file (CTF) is available ftp the file into the BSC directory by taking
the following steps:
Open the program Episys for Windows program. To ftp the CTF file to the BSC
directory do the following steps:

Select the Log on to Episys link.


Type in macro for Username and Password.

Select the Next > button.


Enter su at the $ prompt.
Note: This will set you into a superuser mode; a password is required.
Type in ctf.ftp and Enter at the # prompt.
Note: This will automatically download the file to the BSC directory.
Type Y and Enter to Transfer a live CTF file (N will retrieve a test file)?
Type exit at the # prompt.

Checking the BSC Directory

Check the BSC directory to make sure the CTF file is being downloading. Take the
following steps to view the file in the BSC directory:
Go to the System console. To view the BSC directory take the following steps:

Type symop at the $ prompt.


Type BSCCHECK at the prompt >.
Type Y for View a BSC File?
Enter at the Sequence [#] of the CTF file.
Note: Wait to continue until you see Transfer successfully!
Type exit at the # prompt.
Type exit at the $ prompt.

Backing Up the CTF file

Log into Episys for Windows. To backup the CTF file in the BSC directory do the
following steps from the computer room:

Label and insert a BSCBackup scratch tape.


Caution: Wait until the backup tape has completely loaded before continuing.
Go to the System Console.
Type BSCBACKUP at the > prompt.
Choose 1 for the rmt1 SCSI 8mm Tape Drive.
Type Y for Okay?
Note: The > prompt will appear when the backup is complete.

Moving the CTF file


From the System console. To move the CTF from the BSC directory to the Episys for
Windows programs take the following steps from the computer room:

Type BSCMOVE at the > prompt.

Enter at the Sequence [#] of the CTF file.


Type 0 for Destination Institution.
Type 0 for Edit File.
Type 0 for Move to Edit File and Delete BSC File.
Type 0 for Other.
Note: The > prompt will appear when the Move is complete.
Type exit at the > prompt.

Running the Visa Edit and Posting File

Log into Episys for Windows. Run two job files to update the members visa
accounts by doing the following steps:
Go to the Batch Control work area. Run two job files to update the members visa
accounts by doing the following steps:

Type VISA.EDIT for Run the Job File.


Select No for Batch Options?
Select Yes for Okay?
Note: Wait until VISA.EDIT job is done before continuing to the next steps.
Type 1ST.VISA.POST for Run Job File.
Select No Batch Options?
Select 0 for Batch Queue?
Enter for Effective Date.
Note: today's business date.
Enter for Effective Date
Note: today's business date.
Select Yes for Okay?
