The following provides general instructions with which to download

application(s) required to install AutoPIPE Vessel on a single computer
system. The images and version numbers and products depicted may not be
up to date but the general procedure remains correct. You will need your
Bentley login and password information to log into the Bentley website in
order to download applications or create CDs to be mailed to you.

1. Open an internet browser and navigate to the following URL:

2. Under the Support & Services tab select Software Downloads.

Note
Each company has an on-site Bentley administrator that was designated when an
account is first created. If you do not have a current log on, please contact your on-site
Bentley Administrator who can assist you with the correct information and permissions.
Otherwise, contact Bentley directly (refer to the links at the top of this document).

1. Ensure the SELECTservices: Downloads/MySELECT CD page is displayed.
2. In the Search By area, enable the Product radio button, then select AutoPIPE Products from
drop-down list.
3. In the Filter By area, select All from the Files Posted within last drop-down list.

4. Press Search.
5. Enable the check-box next to the most recent version of AutoPIPE Vessel (see the Date
column) and confirm that any dependencies have also been selected.
Note
The Certified On column provides information about the Operating Systems for which the
application has been tested. Installing the application on any other Operating System will
be at your own risk and will not be supported.
6. Scroll to the bottom of the page and press Continue.

7. In the Delivery Method area, enable the Download radio button or enable the Burn DVD(s)
radio button to have an official DVD mailed to you.
8. Press Continue.
9. Download Procedure. Read the Legal Terms of Use statement. If you agree, press Accept.
a. Press Advanced Download Manager.
b. Specify a path where the files will be downloaded in the Set Destination field.
c.
Press Start Download.
10. Burn DVD Procedure. Enable the Bentley AutoPIPE Vessel V8i check-box, then press
Continue.

a. Provide the appropriate shipping information, then press Complete.

11. Other applications to complete an installation:
SELECTserver (i.e. Bentley hosted SELECTserver, Local Managed SELECTserver, or

Node lock license). Contact the Bentley SELECTserver group for available options and
instructions to install.
DOWNLOAD UPDATES
AutoPIPE Vessel updates are created as needed. Notifications of these updates are included in the
AutoPIPE Vessel Newsfeed (accessible from AutoPIPE Vessels Help), Bentley Press Releases, or
Newsletters sent to those who have signed up to receive the Select Newstream for Plant products.
Note
It is the end users responsibility to periodically check for product updates and new
releases.
To subscribe / unsubscribe to a Newstream:

1. Open an internet browser and navigate to the following URL:
http://selectservices.bentley.com/en-US/.
2. Log onto the web site.
3. Once you are logged into the site, select Profile from the drop-down list below your login
name (located in the upper right-hand area of the page).
4. In the Communication Preferences area, press Edit.
5. Enable the check-box(es) next to the appropriate Content Interests and Product Interests.
6. Press Save.
DOWNLOADING UPDATES
1. Follow the instructions in the previous section above to log into the Bentley web site and
navigate to the Support Download page.
2. In the Search By area, enable the Product radio button, then select Bentley AutoPIPE Vessel
from the drop-down list.
3. In the Filter By section, select Enhancements and Updates from the Download Category dropdown list.
4. Select All from the Files Posted within last drop-down list.
5. Press Search.
6. Enable the check-box next to the name of the file and confirm that any dependencies have also
been selected.

The following provides general instructions to install AutoPIPE Vesssel on a

single computer system. The images depicted may not be up-to-date, but the
general procedures remain correct. All downloaded installation files should
be placed on the computers desktop or the CD placed into the appropriate
drive before beginning. DO NOT install the application from a network
location. The procedure requires that an Administrator is logged on before
initiating the installation. The installation of AutoPIPE Vessel or AutoPIPE
Vessel ATS assumes that a Bentley hosted SELECTserver, Local Managed
SELECTserver, or Node lock license has already been installed. Contact the
Bentley SELECTserver group for available options and instructions to install
SELECTserver.

Note

The installation of AutoPIPE Vessel or AutoPIPE Vessel ATS assumes that a Bentley hosted
SELECTserver or Local Managed SELECTserver has already been installed and configured. If
neither have been installed, contact Bentleys SELECTserver group or Bentley License Team for
available options and instructions to install SELECTserver.
For standalone AutoPIPE Vessel installations, SELECTserver is not required; however, a
Nodelock license is. Contact your Bentley on-site manager or Bentley License Team for details on
how to receive a Node lock license file (.XML).
INSTALL FROM DOWNLOADED FILES

1. To install Bentley applications, ensure you have logged into the computer with an account that
has administrative privileges. If you are unable to log in with a suitable account, contact your
network administrator to log in and perform the installation.
2. All download files should be placed onto the computer where the application(s) are to be
installed. Bentley recommends the desktop or creating a folder to store the files. DO NOT
install the application from a network location. Use My Computer to browse to the
downloaded files and double click on the .EXE file to start the installation.
INSTALL FROM CD
1. To install Bentley applications, ensure you have logged into the computer with an account that
has administrative privileges. If you are unable to log in with a suitable account, contact your
network administrator to log in and perform the installation.
2. After inserting the CD, an introduction application will automatically run from which you can
start the installation. If the introduction application does not begin, use My Computer to
browse to the CD and double-click on the SETUP.EXE file (located in the Product\Install
directory of the CD).

All previous versions of AutoPIPE Vessel must be uninstalled before installing AutoPIPE Vessel
V8i. Use the Add/Remove Programs utility (found in the Control Panel) to uninstall the following:
All previous versions of AutoPIPE Vessel.
All folders located in \Bentley\ Engineering\AutoPIPE Vessel as well as all Translator folders
should also be removed.

Note
The application should not be installed from a network location. Bentley recommends the
placing.EXE files on the users system before starting the installation.
This procedure assumes that SELECTserver has been installed and configured. If it has not,
contact the Bentley License group or the Bentley SELECTserver group to assist you.
You must log onto the users computer with full Administration rights. If you are unable to log in
with a suitable account, contact your network administrator to log in and perform the installation.
1. Close all other applications currently running, then navigate to the downloaded .EXE file and
double-click on it to start the installation process.

2. Nothing will appear while the installer is starting up. In a short time, the following screens will
display. Bentley recommends accepting all default settings.

3. After the AutoPIPE Vessel installation is complete, continue with next section before starting
the application.

1. You must log onto the users computer with full Administrator rights. If you are unable to log
in with a suitable account, contact your network administrator to log in and perform the
installation.
2. If updates are available, install AutoPIPE Vessel V8i following the instructions above, then
follow the README file included with the downloaded update file.

There are two options for licensing Bentley applications:
Standalone Workstations. Requires an .XML license file to be imported into the License
Management Tool in order to license installed applications. The .XML file is checked out
against a Bentley-hosted or user-deployed SELECTserver account.
Networked Workstations. Connected temporarily/permanently to a Bentley-hosted or

user-deployed server on a network. While connected, licenses can be checked in/out as
required from a pool of available licenses on the contract.
All license management questions/modifications are handled by the Bentley License Team and
Account Managers (NOT the AutoPIPE Vessel Technical Support Group). Your Account Manager
can also assist with application pricing.

OVERVIEW
An internet/network connection is not required to authenticate the AutoPIPE Vessel V8i license. In
order to use the application beyond Demo mode, a valid SELECT license file (.XML) is required
with the AutoPIPE license options checked out for extended period of time. A standalone license
is locked to a specific computer and cannot be moved. If the license needs to be moved, contact the
party that provided the .XML file for an updated file.
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Install AutoPIPE Vessel following the procedures provided.
2. Acquire a valid Bentley SELECT license file (.XML) from your Bentley on-site Administrator,
hosted server, deployed server, Bentley License Team, or Account Manager. Prior to
receiving an .XML file, the user may need to provide a computer name where the application is
to be installed.
3. Copy the license file in your hard disk by selecting Start > Programs > Bentley Engineering >
AutoPIPE Vessel > License Management Tool or start AutoPIPE Vessel and select File >
License Management Tool as shown below:

4. The first time this command is issued. a warning message may display. Press OK.
5. The License Management Tool dialog displays. Select the License Checkout tab, then select
File > Import.
6. The Import License File dialog displays. Browse to the location of the license file (.XML), then
select it and press Open to import the license file.
7. If the file is successfully imported, the available licenses are displayed with the expiration
date.

8. The security is now in place. The installation is complete and AutoPIPE Vessel is ready for
use.
Note
When AutoPIPE Vessel is launched, a SELECTservice warning message may appear.

Press Yes and a local host server name will be set for the standalone license to be active
which will allow the program to be authorized.
If updating the node lock to a Network license server, complete the following:
1. From the License Management Tool dialog, select Tools > Options.
2. Update the Server Name and Site Activation Key information with the appropriate values as
shown below.

3. Press Test Connection to confirm the information entered.

4. To view the Server Name and Site Activation Key, select Start > Programs > Bentley
Engineering > AutoPIPE Vessel > License Management Tool.
4. After the application opens, select Tools > Options.
Server name :
Bentley Hosted server name = selectserver.bentley.com
Or
Company Deployed server name = company license server name. Contact your IT department.
Site Activation Key:
These are unique keys provided by the Bentley License Team. Contact your Bentley on-site
administrator or Bentley License department for this information.

OVERVIEW
Installations that use Bentleys Hosted Server or a Customers Deployed Server to authenticate
licenses to run AutoPIPE Vessel V8i. An internet/network connection is not required to
authenticate the licenses.
Acquire the following information from your Bentley on-site Administrator, AutoPIPE Vessel
software supplier, or Bentley License Department.
Hosted SELECTserver Name or customers Deployed Server Name.
Site Activation Key.

INSTRUCTIONS
1. Install AutoPIPE Vessel following the instructions provided, but do not start the application
because the licensing portion has not been configured at this point and will revert to Demo
mode.
2. Download the SELECTserver as previously described.
3. Install Bentley SELECTserver.
Note
Full details of the SELECTserver installation are included in the download.
Contact the Bentley License department or Bentley SELECTserver group for technical
support.
4. After the Bentley SELECTserver has been correctly installed, select Start > Programs >
Bentley Engineering > AutoPIPE Vessel > License Management Tool or start AutoPIPE Vessel
and select File > License Management Tool as shown below:
5. The first time this command issued, a warning may appear. Press OK.
6. After the License Management Tool dialog displays, select Tool > Options.
7. Enter the Server Name and Site Activation Key information provided to you:

Note
Bentley hosted server name = selectserver.bentley.com, while deployed server names

are handled by your company. Enter Proxy Configuration information as required by your
IT department.
8. Press Test Connection to confirm the entries are correct. The following displays.
Note
If the SELECTserver and Activation Key are not verified, confirm the data entered and
server connection (contact Bentley license department) are correct.
9. Press OK to accept the settings. The License Management Tool displays with all available
licenses in the top window. AutoPIPE Vessel will only run in Demo mode until one or more
license are available for checkout.

10. The security is now in place. The installation is complete and AutoPIPE Vessel is ready for
use.

Note

AutoPIPE Vessel should only be started after all previous sections have been completed. Missing
any of the above steps could result in AutoPIPE Vessel reverting to Demo mode.
Start AutoPIPE Vessel by double-clicking the desktop icon, or select Start > Programs > Bentley
Engineering > AutoPIPE Vessel > AutoPIPE Vessel.
WELCOME TO AUTOPIPE VESSEL LICENSING

1. Each time AutoPIPE Vessel is started, the application will display the AutoPIPE Vessel
Licensing splash screen as shown below, unless the Show licensing on startup check-box is
disabled.
2. Depending on your licenses available in the License Management Tool, select the appropriate
AutoPIPE Vessel Edition radio button.

3. If your license contract has the add-on design codes feature, these will be shown as available
green lights.
4. After pressing OK, the application will:
a.
Verify the License Management Tool is installed.
b.
Check available licenses for the product selected.
c.
If available, check out the license.
d.
Reduce the available pool licenses by one.
5. AutoPIPE Vessel will then be ready for use; however, if a valid license was not available (i.e.,
License pool = 0, or application is not listed in License Management Tool), the application
will revert to DEMO mode, as indicated by the following message:

When a calculation is performed, the following or similar unavailable license error message
will be displayed:
6. If the application reverts to Demo mode:

a.
Verify the AutoPIPE Vessel version selected in step two above matches the license
available in the File > License Settings list.
b.
Verify a license is available (i.e., Available > 0), File > License Management Tools,
License Checkout Tab Available column next to the product selected.
c.
Verify the internet connection and server connection.
d.
Verify the SELECTserver Dashboard Settings (i.e., Application restrictions, user

restrictions, etc.) http://selectserver.bentley.com/bss/admin/ (can only be accessed by
Bentley on-site Administrator).
7.
In addition, the Bentley on-site Administrator should check the Select Server:
a.
License Management:
i.
Usage limit.
ii.
Expiration Date.
iii. How many people have the application checked out and does that exceed the
Usage limit.

b. Site Configuration:

Check out restrictions for specific applications or employees.
Bentley recommends enabling the Do not Apply Checkout Restrictions option if no

check out restrictions are configured.
