Prices are the opinions of MetalPrices.com's correspondents/market specialists based on interviews with scrap dealers, brokers, and consumers for the date listed.
Except where noted, all prices are in gross tons (2,240 pounds). Except where noted, scrap prices are the price of scrap delivered to the mills or foundries, based
on actual transactions. Brokers' buying prices are the price of the processed scrap FOB the dealer yard (based on actual transactions), loaded onto the truck, rail
car, or barge; they are computed by subtracting freight and brokerage from the price of the processed scrap delivered to the consumers. The abbreviation (a)
means that the price is an appraisal in the absence of current transactions; an actual price will be listed once transactions have been made. Previous-month
prices refer to the price that the Previous mo.'s market settled out at; for months in which the market changed, they reflect the last change in the Previous mo.'s
prices. For commentary and analysis of the scrap markets, historical prices, and charting, see the Ferrous Scrap Price Index page of www.MetalPrices.com.
