Performance Task Description
The goal of this professional development is to provide staff
members with technology resources that can be used to
integrate the Lexile Framework into Reading. These will be a

variety of websites and apps that can be used during
instructional time that will keep students engaged during

Teachers will take on the role of the students during this
professional development. They will be using the different

the perspective of the teacher. They will be asked to bring
their laptops, as this will be a hands-on learning lab

Explain to the teachers what the Lexile


Framework is and what it is not so that they
can become familiar with what we are working
with.
I will hook the educators by showing them
videos of frustrated readers and frustrated
teachers.
I will show the teachers a presentation that
explains how we can use the Lexile Framework
in Reading and how this can be supported by
using technology.
During the presentation, I will stop to ask the
staff members if they have any questions,
concerns, or comments about anything I have
gone over.
Before the professional development, I will
have teachers to complete a survey about
what they know about the Lexile Framework. I
will give the same survey after the
professional development so that they can

measure their growth.
