with the Reliable Controls
MACH-System; either the
network will exist by itself (dedicated) or will be joined to an
existing network. In the case where the network is dedicated
the numbers can be anything so long as each panel on the
network is assigned a unique number, and the first of the
four numbers are not 0. The Reliable Controls convention,
for dedicated networks, is to assign the first three numbers
to 192.168.1 and the fourth number would be the assigned
panel number. When the network will be added to an existing
network you will need to obtain the IP addresses from the
Network Administrator. To remove an address from the table
change it to 0.0.0.0.
" The MAC Address column is a read only column that
identifies each device that is part of the network. The first
three groups of numbers in this address are assigned by
IEEE, and are Organizationally Unique Identifiers (OUI) for
each manufacturer. The numbers 00-02-D9 identify devices
manufactured by Reliable Controls. The fourth group
identifies the individual product and the remaining groups
detail the serial number of the product.
" Where a router is involved in the network you will need to
enter the IP address of the router in the Router row. The IP
address will be obtained from the Network Administrator.

Expansion Cards
Expansion Cards
A maximum of eight expansion cards can be attached to the
MACH-Global using the expansion card ports located at the
bottom of the controller. Each expansion card
accommodates 16 universal points that allow a maximum of
128 points of measurement and control directly onboard.
Any expansion card arrangement is permissible provided the
quantity and type of card are specified correctly in the MSet
configuration procedure described previously.
Input Expansion Cards
The MACH-Global input expansion card is a general
purpose universal input card that is designed for use with the
MACH-Global controller.
!
Each input can accept 0-5 VDC, dry contact with a 10 k pullup, or 4-20 mA.
Each input has two DIP switches for configuring what type
(0-5 VDC, thermistor/dry contact, or 4-20 mA) each input will
accept.

Networking
The Reliable Controls MACH-System can be networked in a
variety of ways, which are discussed in the Networking the
Reliable Controls MACH-System document.
When employing EIA-485 and EIA-422 networks with the
MACH-Global controller the next two sections are relevant.
Network Connections
The MACH-Global controller has four EIA-485 network
ports. Two of the ports (Main and AUX~EIA-485) can be
converted to EIA-422 operation.

End-of-Line Termination
On all EIA-485 networks it is necessary to add end-of-line
(EOL) terminators to prevent reflected noise returning into the
network. The EOL terminators must be installed on the
controllers at the extremities of the network. To determine the
network extremities, calculate the maximum length between
any two controllers. The controllers at the extremities must be
terminated.
