As a luthier, it has been my passion to build guitars and ukuleles

that are worth playing. Over the years, I have interacted with
various players, helping me realize that though their preferences
differ, they are actually looking for three common things in an
instrument; rich tone, superb playability, and finest craftsmanship.
This understanding shaped me on how I design and build
instruments, instruments that players would love playing. I hope
that you will enjoy playing my instruments as much as I have
adored building them.

OUR JOURNEY

We started handcrafting guitars and ukuleles since 2004. Driven by our passion
to make handcrafted quality instruments accessible, we opened the first Maestro
store in Singapore displaying only 12 guitars. Now, we are offering vast number of
instruments across a vast tonal palette, ensuring that there is a perfect Maestro
for every player.

THE PATH TO A GREAT GUITAR

ITS ALL ABOUT THE WOOD
As a builder, we believe that it is only through
handcrafting that one can make an instrument
to its fullest potential. Every Maestro is carefully
handcrafted in a humidity-controlled facility by
experienced luthiers. Built from hand-selected
tonewoods that are rich in tap tones, each carries
our legacy of rich tone, striking projection, superb

lower ranges, as well as great sustain and volume.
Best used for strumming yet its incomparable bass
response makes it popular for fingerstyle players.
Available in : Elite Series [EJ-3]

Singa

Slightly smaller as compared to the Jumbo, this

shape makes it easier to handle yet still presents the
same volume and projection with improved clarity on
trebles and mids, making it ideal for both strumming
and fingerstyle players.
Available in : Elite Series [EM-2, EM-3], Custom Series [Singa]

Raffles

Victoria

Sized in between the 000 and the popular

Dreadnought, Raffles offers a very different boxy and
airy tone that emphasizes on mids over lows and
trebles, making it ideal for those who want a uniquesounding guitar.

Victoria is a slightly smaller-bodied shape that some

find easier to handle, with a sound that emphasizes
the mid and treble ranges. It is recommended for
fingerpicking, though it has a unique characteristic
when strummed.

Rosetta

The most popular body, producing booming lower

Slope-Shoulder
Dreadnought

and mids more pronounced; producing a much
warmer yet traditional sound.
Available in : Elite Series [ED-3]

on the traditional tone and level of projection.

TONE AND WOOD

With our emphasis on tone, we only use hand-selected traditional and exotic tonewoods that are
rich in tap tones. Each instrument is built to its full potential, highlighting the tonal characteristics
of each wood while maintaining the optimal projection and responsiveness of which Maestro is
recognized for.

Sitka Spruce
The hardest of the woods used in the
manufacture of soundboards, Sitka spruce
produces a loud, bright tone, accentuating
the basses and trebles.

German Spruce
Produces a slightly louder and more projective
open sound than Sitka Spruce. Extremely
clear and bell-like, it creates exceptional
sound for light to very firm techniques.

Adirondack Spruce

Khaya Mahogany

Adirondack Spruce is an iconic wood

heralded as a foremost amongst top woods.
It has more overall resonance than Sitka,
and sounds loud & powerful with a focused,
punchy bass.

Mahogany is a hard, bright sounding wood

with a tendency to accentuate the mid-range.
With its large dynamic range, it responds
very well to both sensitive playing and louder,
percussive styles.

Western Red Cedar

Pacific Redwood

A softer wood than spruce, this wood

produces a warm, mellow, earthy tone.
Used for many years on the soundboards
of classical guitars, but recently becoming
popular with steel string players.

A great choice for the fingerstylist with

somewhat more richness in the bass than
cedar. Redwood responds to subtle playing
with a crisp, balanced sound.

Port Orford Cedar

Acacia Koa

Highly sought after for the bold, robust,

responsive tone that it imparts on an
instrument. It is an excellent choice for both
classical and steel stringed instruments.

Koa is a beautifully figured wood, dark brown

in appearance with wide grain patten blonde
streaks. Tonally, it combines the clear voicing
of maple with deeper, rosewood-like qualities,
and sensitivity of mahogany.

15

Australian Blackwood

Bocote

Cocobolo

An unusual timber, similar in appearance to

Koa with its slightly wavy grain, but with tonal
properties more akin to those of mahogany,
being bright sounding and rich in the mid range.

Bocote features a tobacco-brown colour with

distinct parallel black lines and multicoloured
strips. It is known for its deep sounding basses
and an overall big sound.

Cocobolo is a very
ry beautiful wood, known to
change colour after
ter being cut. It offers almost
everything Brazilian
an Rosewood offers; increased
power, sustain and volume, along with its beauty
in colour and figure.
re.

Bloodwood

Brazilian Rosewood

Flamed Maple
ple

Bloodwood is an attractive highly figured wood

that is naturally red in colour. Known for its
clarity especially on the high registers, it sounds
somewhere in between of a Rosewood and
Zebrawood.

The moust sought-after tonewood revered for its

deep basses, mature mid-range and balanced
trebles. Now in increasingly short supply,
Brazilian Rosewood is generally reserved for the
highest models.

Maple has a very light

ight colouration, and produces
a sound with a very fast attack, particularly
suiting faster, percussive
ussive styles of play. Tonally,
maple tends to enhance
nhance the mid-range and
trebles, and is best combined with a spruce top.

Macassar Ebony

Madagascar Rosewood

Khaya Mahogany

Macassar Ebony is valued for its striking

chocolate and light brown colouration. It has
strong bass and lower mids coupled with clear
and transparent highs, and is very responsive,
clear and loud.

Madagascar Rosewood has risen in popularity

because of its similar properties to Brazilian
Rosewood; warm, with well defined basses and
rich trebles.

Khaya Mahogany is a hard, bright sounding

wood with a tendency to accentuate the midrange. With its large dynamic range, it responds
very well to both sensitive playing and louder,
percussive styles.

Monkey Pod

Santos Rosewood

African Zebrawood

Monkey Pod has a golden amber colour with

dark streams sometimes resembling Koa or
Black Acacia. It produces a woody, pulsing tone
without losing the clear high frequencies that is
very close to a Mahogany.

Santos Rosewood has a finer texture than most

rosewood. It has the same tonal characteristic
as the Indian Rosewood only mellower and more
balanced.

Zebrawood is an extremely attractive wood with

about the same density, resonance and tone as
Indian Rosewood, with slightly lower registers
and a boost on the mids.
