Prologue
Beauty and beautiness is the eternal beauty
of the human nature. Beautiness atracting each
other and every thing.
He who saw a beauty in something,he
totally attracting to it and like to make it his own.
Thus flows the world history.Love makes
creative attitude and haste make destructive
attitude.
Here I am narrating the beauty of love to
the nature and eternal glory of a moral proud.
And that is the story of KONARC The world
famous SUNTEMPLE of orissa in India.
The word Konarc stands for eternal energy
and light & knowledge.
KON means corner in sanskrit language
and ARK means SUN. So why Konarc.
In universe locatin of India is in the place of
heart.

Konarc located in the Agnikon means the

fire place of Indian continent means body of India.
According to the Indian Hindu culture fire
stands for Eternal energy and knowledge.
Hindu epics says SUN-Sooryabhaghavan
means Sun-God posses eternal energy and
knoledge.
The first poetic epic of the worldRamayana-mentioning Adityarudaya sthotram .
Saint Agasthya gave to Lord Rama for recupe
his moral energy aganist evil
force of Ravana the demon king.
The monkey hero lord Hanuman attain the
un compitable physical and moral energy. And
magical powers directly from the Sun God.The
Hindu style of life says early wokup and worship
of Sun God provides mental energy and physical
fitness for all.
History says in India long back that means
between 11th & 13th century there was a dynasty
called KALINGA or as Gangeyas again narrates like
continual branch of SOORYAVAMSA through
KURUS.That means it connect with Lord RAMA and
Pandavas & Kauravas of Mahabharath.

There was a king known as Purushothama

Raya. As the chief of Kalinga kingdom at present
Orissa State. History says Purushothama raya
constructed the Famous Puri Jagannatha
temple.That is near Bhuvaneswar and near the
Sankaramadom of Puri established by Adi
Sankaracharya of Kaladi Kerala.One of his four
monastries.
One fine morning the golden sun rays cover
the whole sea shore of Ganga sagar (The Bay of
Bengal) at Konarc. Here from you can read the
story of Konarc.

The shining beauty of the land scape is very
attractive.In the sea seashore on the Golden sands
the queen of king Purushothamaraya Rani
Chandramathi stands and enjoying the landscape
and the Sunrise. With her sixteen year old son.
Oh my son Narasimmaraya!
Yes mother I am here! Whats the matter?
You see the beauty of Sunrise! How fine !
Howmuch beautyful! It is so nice for the eyes and
mind! And it refresh the whole body also.Sun rays
gloryfies the mind and brain.
Yes mother you are correct. I also feels like that.

and nature awakening. The sun provides proper
clarity & light for the world

Govardhana hills, the Kalindi river! The beauty of

to mother nature. He saw eveything within him.

equepments.
Samant rai recieved Bhihurana and friends with

Maharani and our young king Narasimmaraya.

Next morning all assembled at the sea shore of
konarc.
Mininster Samantrai arranged the conference

King Narasimmaraya.
Maharani enter the dais. All the people stood up
and pay their regards to their maharani.Maharani
sat on the chair. Then all sat on the ground.
King Narasimmaraya told you people may know
why we are assembled here.
Here we are going to build a beautiful shrine of
Sun God. My mother beloved Maharani is here to
present her idea on Sun temple. After that we can
discuss on that matter and we can take a desetion.
The great silpi Bhihumarana is here with his
coleagues.
Our minister Shibi Samantrai look after the work.
Thats what my request and Matharanis wish.
We like it! We like it! People shouted. Dear king
we are with you for that noble cause.

Nation. The mighty Purushothamaraya my
husband and the king of the Kalinga dynasty faught
for Proud and welfare of the state and people. He
build the Great Puri Jagannatha temple.

this seashore of Konarc and enjoy the beuty of
nature and the landscape at sunrise.
Now you see the present land scape! You people
can also enjoy such a style even now!
Thats the eternity of our Konarcs beauty! Our ever
fresh spring The Chandrabhaga Merges here with
the holy Gangasagar.You see the golden sun rays
within the golden Sands of the seashore.
Read the sun rays. what says the rising sun? What
is the message?
Ancient saints says Sun is the embodiment of
knowledge and energy and courage.
That is why in Ramayana Saint Agasthya gave the
Aadityarudaya mantra to Lord SriRama
For win over Ravana the demon king. That means
we should attain the knowledge for
Refresh our mind and body every day. When the
light comes the darkness will removes naturely,

Thamasoma jyothirgamaya
You see the lands scape! how beautiful.From the
darkness slowly the shining Sun coming Up! the
bluesky! bluesea! Now the golden Sun with full
form! Now we entered the brihgtness
From the darkness.Yes my people we have to learn
more from the nature.
That is why I asked my son Narasimmaraya to build
a Sun shrine in the sea shore.
You may know the story of Hanuman the monkey
hero of poet Valmeeki. In the epic Ramayana
Says Hanuman attain the knowledge from the
Sungod.
In India prayer to Sun like this
Oh the GodSun! Brightest one!
With golden rays filling you the
Universe with knowledge and energy!
The protector of the galaxy!
Oh lord lead & make us bright
Prosperous we bow thee! Oh God Sun!
My people with this prayer I like to conclude now
and we can meet again tomorrow morning.
Then Maharani Chandramathi left to her cottage.

That night Bhihurana sat in the moon light at the
seashore.
In the blue sky! the bright moon! The land scape!
Beautifuly neet and clean!
Bhihu sat and watch in the deep sea.Slowly his
mind flew in to past memories.
At the beautiful village of Puri. Spent so-many
nights like this. Green pady fields! Coolbreeze!
Saw a beautiful girl coming towards him! she came
nearer to him.
Pay regards and offer some food and sweets and
told.
Oh great youg man my father ask me to give the
prasadam to you.
With an amazing look Bhihu asked her. who are
you?
Iam the daughter of village chief Ramaraya.
To day is Vaisakapoornima. Please accept this
prasadam.

What is your name? Bhihu politely asked her.
My name is Chandralekha!
Fine and very nice! You are so charm!
Oh thanks. Chandralekha replied and turned
suddenly and ran away.
Bhihurana remember those days.
After that he visit the chieftains house. Introduced
himself and became close with the family.
Most of the evening Chandralekha and Bhihu meet
together and like to chat. Long time.
One day Bhihu asked The Chieftain he like to marry
Chandralekha.
One fine morning of the Sarath poornima Bhihu
and Chandralekha got married at the village
temple.
Bhihu thought now where is my Chandralekha!
After departed what happened her?
Every thing is in the hands of god! My life style is
to migrate one place to another with father and
friends for the work. That is the tradition.
Now father is no more. I am alone here.No
information about Chandralekha!
Oh god what is life!

Jagannatha temple- is over.
All the people hurry to back their homes.
Chandralekha! The wife of Bhihurana! Proceeding
to her village with her son Dharmapadha.
Oh my son Dharmapadha!
Yes Mother! Whats the matter?
Now I like to talk about your father.
With pleasure Mother! You should I like to hear!
Dharmapadaa! he is a fine silpi with all valour!
and sincere one!
Brave and Dedecated one! Now we saw the Lord
Jagannatha temple.
We enjoy the Charriot race and other programes.

I know it very well. Long back myself and your
father met at near devi temple asper your grand
fathers direction. My father has that much respect
to that young silpi.

After that he usualy visiting our house. One day
he asked my father. He like to marry me.

the construction of PuriJagannatha temple. I think

torch of the universe. He is sitting posture in a
white lotus in seven coloured horse charriot.
Arun is the rider. The seven colour horses stands
for saptha varna and saptha swara and saptha raga.
That means basical sound and music of Universe.
The golden rays Sun leads us to prosperity.
So I like the shrine should as a chariot form. And
the idol should be in the form of Sun sitting in the
lotus with hamsas(swan) It symbolised the purity
and knowledge And wisdom.

work of the temple.

Kalinga state for the stones.
Bhihu himself search and find out a fine black
stone for shaping the Idol.
He shaped the Sun idol in front of Rani
Chandramathi.
She gave proper suggetions in needed occations.
It took nearly one decade.
At the same time temple construction also going
on. They select and chalk out a master plan for
the temple.

Bhihu spot the Vasthu and gave part by part to all.

At defferant location they shaped the pillars and
small idols.
The people brought all those pieces in bullock carts
and through sea at Konarc.
For compleating the full stucture they took one
decade.
Again two more years spent for the assembling
the temple in a shrine style.
One day Bhihurana asked Queen Chandramathi.
Oh respected Maharani! Our work is almost
compleated. For the erection of the idol
Prathistta we have to discuss with our priest.
Yes Bhihu you are correct that is our traditional
style. We have to find out a good day and
Muhurtha. Narasimmaraya will invite the family
priest here.
Ofcourse mother I will arrange it.

Next morning all asembled the seashore.
Maharani Chandramathi and King Narasimmaraya

Village Beuty
Dharmapada after departing from his mother walk
towards the palace to meet King Narasimmaraya.
On the way enjoyed the beauty of the village. The
green groves! Golden colour paddy grass!The
spring of Chandrabhaga!The murmuring of
sparrows! The colour full flowery hills!
Here and there the tropical forest! Days passed
away. One fine morning Dharmapada reached
Konarc.
Where the sun temple is coming up.He saw the
huge structure.The beautiful! Gaijantic in style
what is that ? Dharmapada anxiously and wonderly
stuck there and eagerly see the temple building.
Dharmapada think. What is this I think its a temple
stracture in progress !
Then I may be a fortunate one! Defnitly I can find
out a job here.
Seeing the boy one oldman come to his front and
ask.

MY name is Dharmapada son of Chandralekha of
puri. Traditionaly I am an architect.

Jagannatha saved us.I have full confidence now.
My son Dharmapada can help us. He is capable to
fix the tomb properly.

A fine morning of Makar sankranthi where Sun god
Moves to the Utharayana (Northdirection)
Good day for every good action.
The Konarc people assembled at Sun temple
premises.
Bhihumaharana and his son Dharmapada climbed
on the tomb. All other workers Take their
possitions at the direction of Bhihurana.
Rani Chandramathi and King Narasimmaraya sat
at the chairs.
Rest of the people sat at the ground and eagerly
watching the actions of Bhihurana and
Dharmapada.
Every body pray for the fulfilment of the temple
in perfect manner.
And watching the actions of Bhihurana and
Dharmapada.

The morning of Makara Samkrama the Queen
Chandramathi is in the darsan Lord Soorya
Narayana.
She took bath and done pooja - rituals of sun god
of shrine.
The came out. She saw Bhihurana and Dharmapada
standing outside of the shrine with her son
Narasimmaraya.
They were in discussion.
Bhihu ! I am happy now. I am blessed. Now the
turn of Narasimmaraya and your Dharnapada.

You see The Jagmohan - Viman - The bada deval.

(These words are for the peculiarity of the temple
consept of different shapes and use)
Use the main gate and tomb. Then the prayer hall.
The main pillar in the front gate call as Aruna
Sthamba.
During sun rise the golden rays glitering the idol.
Soorya snana - Abhisheka in sun rays. that means
sun bath. The natural ritual !
We can do the ritual and abhisheka. Water from
the pond (theertha kunda).
Mathe see the sun God ! then the namaskara
mandapa.
here you can see the natya mandapa. here the
yajna mandapa, and here the kitchen and the
dining hall. Then the footpath for taking
pradakshina (taking round of shrine). Now you can
the north gate called as Elephant gate. Huge in
hight and bredth. It is for the festival days.
In the south is horse gate.
Rani mathe you see the pillars! build in single stone
and the components also. In different shapes.
Now we can see the tallest tomb. The hight two
hundred and twenty feet.
