Hornets Team Rules

Drinking, smoking, and drugs This will be dealt with according to the Dixie High School athletic policy
and or the Due West law enforcement (if the child is 18 or older).
Class Attendance You will not practice or play if you are not in school for at least half a day.
Vacations It is MANDATORY for players to be at practice during holiday seasons. Only the head coach
can approve absences.
Practice EVERY PRACTICE IS MANDATORY. If you miss practice without speaking with the head
coach prior, you will not play the next game unless the disciplinary action (established by the head
coach) has been completed or there is a valid excuse.
Jobs You may hold a job if it does not interfere with practice, games and or team scheduled events.
Clothes At all times you are a representation of not only Dixie athletics but Dixie High school. Never
should you ever be dressed inappropriately regardless of fashion, style or fad. Our team dress rules
coincide with the Dixie High School Handbook.
Hair Length and style of hair must conform to the coachs standards of moderate length. It must be
neat and presentable as a representative of the Dixie boys basketball team.
Earrings You are not to have them on at practice or games.
Facial Hair Facial hair must be trimmed and neat.
Bus Conduct When riding the bus for away games, you are to conduct yourself in a proper manner.
This includes no communicating with other cars on the road and refraining from horseplay and any
disgusting behavior.
Riding Home on the Bus Policy You may ride home with your parents after a road game if (1) your
parents are there, (2) you present the coach with a note from them saying you may ride home with
them, and (3) the coach sees the parents and acknowledges them. You may NOT ride home with
friends or someone elses parents. NO exceptions!

Game Rules
Keep Your Composure We play with class and sportsmanship at all times!
Hustle Hornets Hustle everywhere: on the floor, off the floor, at halftime, after the game, and to the
bench for time outs.
Huddle Every player is in the huddle during timeouts. Full TOs players in the game sit while
teammates stand and pay attention. 30 second TOs all players stand and pay attention. Players on
the bench are asked to handout towels and water to the players coming off the court.
Technical Fouls Players do not get techs! Technical fouls will result in a 2 MILE RUN before the player
may play in the next game.
Officials We treat officials with respect at all times! Players are to say thank you sir every time an
official hands them the ball. Players are to hand the ball (or make a proper pass) to an official after a
call is made. If the other team drops the ball and walks away after a call, the closest Hornet will pick up
the ball and give it to the official. There is absolutely no arguing over a call. That is the coachs job, and
I do not need your help to do it.

Uniform Guidelines
Uniform The Dixie Hornet uniform will be worn with pride, honor, and respect for all the players who
have ever worn the uniform. The uniform will be tucked in at all times.
Headbands and wristbands Allowed but the entire team must have the same type and color.
Sleeves - Only allowed for protection of an injury if prescribed by a Doctor.
Socks/ Shoes Each player will have a pair of Under Armor socks and team shoes. You are allowed to
wear different types of socks and shoes. However, they must be Under Armor brand.
Pregame Dress At home games, all players will be required to wear a sweater or better attire. Specific
instructions may be given prior to games so that the players coordinate and are unified. At away games,
all players will wear khaki pants/ slacks, white dress shirt with a team issued neck tie/ bow tie.
