Mr. Resetar:
I recently became aware of your need for a Health & Safety Trainer and I wanted to take the
opportunity to express my genuine interest in fulfilling the position.
For the last three years I have been actively building, maintaining, and selling the health and safety
program for a junior mining company located in Northern Ontario. Because of our small size Ive had
the opportunity to truly put my stamp on the health & safety culture within the organization.
My role within the company has consisted of supervision, mentoring supervisors/employees, training
employees, managing all safety systems, fostering a self-sustaining safety culture, and a multitude of
other tasks/activities. In fact, because of the small nature of our company I took it upon myself to
learn web design/database design so that I could have a centralized hub of safety information at my
fingertips at all times to help guide all my efforts in a timely and efficent manner.
Your organizations credo: Nothing is more important to Morton Salt than health and safety
not production, not sales, not profit. is a bold statement that I am excited to see your company
make.
When I originally assumed the role of Health & Safety Coordinator for Ontario Graphite, I was faced
with a group of employees that believed production was number one and that safety was just an
afterthought. None of our employees had any real safety training, and the whole concept of a safety
culture was foreign to them.
Three years later and I cant even begin to describe how proud I am of these employees. Theyve
transformed from a group of employees who were focused on getting the job done at all costs to a
strong group of safety advocates who have learned that productivity does not have to suffer at the
hands of safety.
If you look at my included resume you will find that I have a lot to offer your organization. Over the
years Ive jumped at all training opportunities, worked the front lines in a mining environment, joined
the local fire department/first response unit, and have amassed a multitude of skills that could prove
useful for your company. What the resume does not highlight is the energy, passion, & dedication I
put into everything I commit to.
I welcome the opportunity to discuss potential employment with Morton Salt as this letter/resume only
scratches the surface of my potential. I may not be the most experienced candidate, but I am willing
to learn and have the passion and desire to excel within your organization.
Regards,

Nicholas Furlong
