Why is my cursor very slow or jumpy in AutoCAD?

In AutoCAD w henever moving the mouse over objects the cursor slow s
dow n or seems jumpy like a mystery snap setting is on. Of course snap is
turned off.
It's alw ays a good idea to make sure you're using a graphics card driver
that has been tested and recommended by Autodesk for the AutoCAD or
AutoCAD based product. To verify w hat driver you should be using, type
in the 3DCONFIG command.

Thanks for these tips.

But in other w ords: If applying these tips w ill solve the problem, you
can't use those turned off features w ithout having a slow or jumpy
mouse! Is Autodesk going to do something about it?

Normally on a jumpy mouse/graphics w e change these settings if the

card and driver are not certified by the link w e provided. Also it has
been caused by the mouse driver. We have tested that by uninstalling
current driver and installing a generic Microsoft driver.

I had same problem. W hen dynamic input w as on cursor w as jumpy. I

removed logitech mouse and keyboard softw are but left drivers and it
w orked. Now cursor moves normaly again. Thanks Todd for the tip!

It happens w hen i have edited a block or inserted/copied in lines blocks

etc. to stop it/resolve it temporarily do a quick zoom extents ! simple as
that for me.

I found this w orked in AutoCAD 2011: disable the tooltips ROLLOVERTIPS=0.

Mr. Ew en Wallace, you are my hero!

Thank you so very much!

Disabling Dynamic Input did the trick!

Thanks

Disabling rollover tips did it for me. I tried all the other stuff and no
luck. Thanks, Ew en!

Thanks you a lot, Mr. Ew en Wallace! It's w orking(w ith the specification
that you must restart the AutoCAD). Thanks again!
Posted by: daniel | 09/20/2012 at 03:13 AM

Thank you! Disabling dynamic input w orked at first, but w hen I enabled
hardw are acceleration I found that w orking w ith dynamic input enabled
w as no longer a problem.
I w as glad to discover this because I made sure I specced the system
w ith an Autodesk approved graphics card and apparently I w asn't even
using it! I can't imagine w hy acceleration w ould be off by default.

Thanks a million, this has been driving me mad! fixed my extension to

random points problem and means I can now go back to using DYN
Imput for the first time w ith AutoCAD 2013.

Since most people that find a solution post their results :)....here's
w hat fixed mine:
type 3DCONFIG
press "Manual Tune"
check "Enable Hardw are Acceleration"

I am running 2010 in a very large company, so this softw are is installed

remotely by IT and I don't have the ability to fix as much as I am
accustom to having access to. I tried all of these suggestion, but to no
avail; the problem still exists.
Posted by: Chad DeVries | 08/01/2013 at 01:06 PM

I had the same issue w ith CAD and w in xp. Tried all the suggested tips
but I only found a solution troubleshooting the issue, running w in xp in
diagnostic startup.
I found that the application IBU updater service w as the responsible of
slow cursor.
Uninstalled and problem solved! Good luck

My mouse w hen using AutoCad LT 2014 running on Macbook Pro

V10.8.4 in parallel w ith W in7, becomes too fast to control inside the
AutoCad draw ing w indow (Model of paper space), but then slow s
dow n to its typical speed on the ribbons or in any other program I use.
Is there an AutoCad setting I can change? I looked at the ones talked
about in your post but my AutoCad does seem to have the options
you discussed.
Posted by: Chales Kunze | 08/09/2013 at 04:01 PM

Chad,
The most important thing to check is the graphics driver and turning
on 'hardw are acceleration' as w ell.
If you've tried all the other settings in AutoCAD, are you able to try a
non-aero theme in W indow s or adjust for best performance:

I Have the identical speed issue as Charles, using LT2010. Feeling Seasick trying to use Autocad.
3dconfig is not an available command in LT2010.
Running from W indow s XP.
Have tried turning off hardw are acceleration on w indow s settings w ith
no change.
Posted by: Jason Vergers | 12/08/2013 at 08:44 PM

Try the OPTIONS command then the System tab. Toggle the 'Enable
hardw are acceleration...' option.

We've checked all these, no luck - finally performed an old style

AutoCAD 10 (not 2010) transplant. Saved a layer state and exported
it, then turned on and thaw ed all layers, w blocked out to a new file all
the visible content, and inserted that into a new draw ing, imported
the layer state and restored it.
It all started w orking the w ay it should. Good old corruption that you
could not find either in audit or purge.
