Introduction

This document briefly describes the major functional enhancements and modifications implemented in release
3.0 of the remote support platform for SAP Business One, which includes the following components:

The remote support platform for SAP Business One


You can use the remote support platform to protect an SAP Business One installation by monitoring
customers environments and providing automated and remote support. By reducing the amount of time
required to identify and resolve potential issues, the remote support platform for SAP Business One
minimizes disruptions business processes and databases.

The remote support platform studio for SAP Business One


You can use the remote support platform studio to develop support tasks, deliver tasks to customers, and
manage tasks for different customer installations.

Version 3.0 of the remote support platform is included in the SAP Business One 9.0 product DVD, or
downloadable as a separate package.

Version 3.0 of the remote support platform enables you to configure


various strategies for the automatic backup of customers databases.
In version 3.0 of the remote support platform, you can:

Task Management

The remote support platform studio provides a new interface for


managing tasks. You can import previously created tasks, or export
tasks for later use or use elsewhere.
In addition, you can configure tasks to execute immediately on
customers' installations.

Microsoft Windows PowerShell


Scripting

In the remote support platform studio, you can create tasks using
Microsoft Windows PowerShell scripting.
PowerShell enables you to perform remote administrative tasks on
customers' Microsoft Windows operating systems, by providing full
access to Component Object Model (COM) and Windows Management
Instrumentation (WMI).

Tasks

The remote support platform studio enables you to use templates to


quickly create tasks based on common scenarios. You can configure
simple tasks to immediately execute SQL or Microsoft Windows
PowerShell commands on customers' machines, and then view the
results in the studio.

Description

Database Pre-Upgrade Tests

In version 3.0 of the remote support platform, before upgrading


customers' databases, you can perform pre-upgrade tests to ensure
that the databases are ready, and reduce the possibility of the upgrade
process failing.
Pre-upgrade tests are a series of version-specific verification checks on
an SAP Business One installation. To upgrade SAP Business One, an
installation must pass the pre-upgrade test with no errors.
After performing a pre-upgrade test, the platform generates a PreUpgrade Test Report.
