Manager to join their team in Singapore.

As an LPG Operator, you will be primarily responsible for coordinating the fleet vessel operations
in an effective and efficient manner. Under the guidance of the senior operations manager, you will
be maintaining an account of bunkers on board and optimising the uptake for spot market ships. In
addition, you will be processing and ensuring compliance with relevant charter party requirements
and company procedures. Other supervisory duties include managing the fleet operational records,

performance report system.

This unique role deals with the demand planning for New Product Introductions at a global scale. It is
a newly created position which reports into the Global Demand Manager and cuts across 3 different
product groups. In this role you will be responsible to analyse the market trends, new technologies,
competition and forecast the demand for the prototype before it goes into production phase. It is a
critical role where you will need to liaise with the technology and the product development teams in
charting out the milestones for the prototype launch subject to the capacity and inventory planning/
availability.

Fluency in communication is absolutely essential in this role as you will be liaising with external and
internal staff. Firstly, you will be rendering post-fixture support to the commercial department. This
includes conveying crucial operational information, ETA/ETD, questionnaires, certification, scheduling,
routing and managing navigational issues. Secondly, you will be in liaison with the marine department
for vetting status and information on voyage screening by oil majors. Thirdly, you will cooperate with
the fleet technical and fleet manning teams to coordinate the delivery of spares and personnel transfer.
The successful candidate should have a degree with a minimum of 2 years commercial operations
experience in the petrochemical gas industry. The candidate must have practical experience with
calculations of freight, lay-time and demurrage. Prior experience sailing on board LPG/LNG would also
be significantly advantageous.

Strong project management capabilities, analytical approach and resilient nature are key to succeed in
this challenging role. A passion for researching on the market conditions, finding comfort in working with
minimal visibility and ability to effectively interact with all levels of management is also a Must-Have

Why did you decide to do


an MBA?

Having gained a few years of experience


after graduating with a computer engineering
degree, I felt it was an opportune time to
expand my knowledge and skills beyond
technology. I realised that pursuing an MBA
would provide me with additional skills that I
could use both professionally and personally. I
would also be able to expand my network of
professional contacts. Deutsche Bank supports
the continued development of its staff and
encourages their pursuit of higher academic
qualifications and industry certifications. I
was based in Germany at that time and chose
to enroll in the MBA programme offered by
Ashridge in the UK.

How did the MBA help you in


your career?
Transform is a more appropriate word. Until
my MBA, I had been playing various roles in
the technology space. The MBA enabled me
to look at the organisation not just from a
technology perspective, but through other
lenses such as Operations, Human Resources
and Finance. It equipped me with the skills
and the confidence to step out of my comfort
zone. I moved back to Asia and took on a
role outside of technology. The skills gained
during my MBA helped me in this transition
and subsequently in taking up higher
responsibilities. Since then, I have freely
moved across departments in different roles.
The MBA has provided me with the capability
to better contribute to the organisations
strategy and to deal more confidently with the
challenges each day brings.

Best career or personal advice


youve ever received?
Way back in 1999, when we were busy with
Y2K projects, one of my managers presented
each of us in his team with a copy of Who
Moved My Cheese? by Dr Spencer Johnson

and said, Anticipate and accept change, and


grow with it. The next year, I accepted an
expanded role and moved to another city on
a transfer. Much later after my MBA, as part
of my career development, I requested a role
to manage a multi-cultural team. Offering me
the opportunity to lead a global team spread
across Asia, Europe and USA, my manager
remarked, You wanted to swim, and we are
asking you to jump into the ocean. We believe
in you. Do you believe in yourself?

What was one of your biggest


challenges that youve faced in
your career?
Juggling work, study and family has not been
easy. For a period of time, my family was in
India while I worked in Germany and attended
MBA classes in the UK. The challenge was
to balance all three aspects and this was
possible only with very supportive managers,
colleagues and family. I did spend a fortune
on phone calls and airfares and sacrificed
a number of other things in order to pull
through. Another challenge was paying
careful attention during verbal and non-verbal
communication when I interacted with multicultural or multi-locational teams.

Where would you like to be


in your career five years from
now?
In dynamic organisations, there are always
opportunities to grow, and Asia is seen as a
growth market. I see myself adding more
value progressively, and in five years time I
expect to play a further expanded role in the
region.

If you could give one piece of


advice to someone who is keen
to do an MBA, what would it be?
Success has no limits dont limit yourself to
what others have achieved.

What should you do when an executive recruiter calls? If youre not interested in
changing jobs, consider that you may one day want the recruiters help down the road.
And if you are, youll want to maximize the opportunity to increase your odds of landing
an interview. Heres how to respond:
Express thanks. Should you be satisfied with your current position, let the recruiter
know you appreciate his or her interest in you. If possible, recommend any professionals
you know who might be a fit for the position. The effort will likely curry favor among
both parties.
Find out more about the firm. When a recruiter calls, ask what search firm they
work for, its Web address and phone number so you can check that he or she is being
honest. You might also ask for references to candidates theyve previously placed. Such
sleuthing could prevent an embarrassing encounter with someone from your firm whos
posing as a recruiter to see whether youre looking to jump ship.
Know the differences. There are two common types of search firms retained and
contingency. Retained firms are paid to conduct a search for an open position, even if
they dont end up placing someone. By contrast, contingency firms get paid only if a
candidate they source is hired. Both types receive about 35% of a candidates annual
starting pay as their fee. Retained firms usually work only on senior-level assignments.
Contingency recruiters fill middle- to lower-level posts. Neither should ask you for
money.
Read between the lines. During your first conversation, chances are you wont be
given the name of the hiring company, just a brief description of the opening and its
requirements. The recruiter will then ask if you know anyone suitable for the job. Be
equally discreet in return. If youre interested, dont fire off your rsum. Instead, ask
for more information so you can evaluate the opportunity. Your next conversation should
probably occur outside your office.
Be articulate and positive. The fact that a recruiter is calling you means you have the
right background for an opening. Dont assume youre just chatting; the search firm will
be evaluating whether you have the communication skills and other intangibles needed
for the job. For example, this means a candidate who answer questions with yups and
nos will likely be passed over for someone else who replies in full sentences.
Dont exaggerate. When asked about your accomplishments or earnings, dont
embellish. Recruiters check references thoroughly and any lies will disqualify you.
Fudging your rsum will give you a black mark not only with the recruiter, but with his
or her clients as well.

TIPS:
Let the recruiter know you appreciate his or her interest in you.
Dont embellish your accomplishments or earnings.
Let the recruiter know if you arent interested, but offer the names of people who
might be.

This key leader in the Consumer Healthcare Industry is seeking a Finance Director for
the Asia region.
This role is a highly visible leadership role with wide scope of responsibilities in the
supply chain, financial reporting, budgets, projections and strategic plans. In this
role, you will be greatly involved in supporting the regional supply chain operations
and distribution in assessing financial risks and opportunities. As one of the key
finance leaders, you will provide financial stewardship for the organisation.
You should have a degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA or MBA preferred with at
least 10 years of progressive experience in financial accounting and analysis and
5 years in a leadership role in a large MNC environment. As a successful candidate
you will have strong experience in accounting, analysis, cost accounting and
internal controls. Someone who is highly driven and motivated with excellent
communication and inter-personal skills will excel in this role.

Supervise and drive SAP strategy
A healthcare company is looking for a senior SAP Manager to come on board and
lead their APAC wide SAP team. If you have extensive SAP Management experience
and are looking for a new challenge, then we are interested in you!
You will be responsible for leading a regional team, overseeing the SAP systems,
delivering solutions and services for the rest of the business and crafting a high-level
strategy roadmap. You will be comfortable in a senior position, interacting with

You must have at least 5 years of eCommerce experience. You have a track record of
