SYNOPSIS:
INTRODUCTION:

The project entitled E-LIBRARY SYSTEM is developed as part of the VI

Semester RDBMS package project for the partial fulfillment of the BCA degree.
PROJECT:

E-LIBRARY SYSTEM is a software application to maintain the E-books and

notes, presentations related information of the subjects.
OBJECTIVE:

This will be an online e-library with huge collection of e-books and this
digital library will be provided as cloud service the college and can be
used by their students.
Why is the particular topic chosen?
This application required to the user and needed to librarians, lecturers,
students. The existing system not satisfied to user and taking lot of time.
SCOPE:

This application can be used by anyone through internet connection. It includes

College details, staff details, faculty details, Management details, Departments,
semester vise books, notes, presentations, librarian is the admin.

PROBLEM DEFINITION:

Disadvantages of Existing System

Some of the problems being faced in manual system are as follows:
1. Fast report generation is not possible.
2. Tracing a book is difficult.
3. Information about issue/return of the books are not properly maintained.
4. No central database can be created as information is not available
in database.

PROPOSED SYSTEM
There will be three major components:
1. Stock maintenance.
2. Transaction entry.
3. Reports.
Advantages of the project
1. It provides "better and efficient" service to members.
2. Reduce the workload of employee.
3. Faster retrieval of information about the desired book.
4. Provide facility for proper monitoring reduce paper work and
Provide data security.
5. All details will be available on a click.

Methodology to be used:
1. Waterfall method

A waterfall model is a means of making the development process more visible. Because of
the cascade from one phase to another, this model is known as the waterfall model

Operation and
Maintenance

There are numerous variations of this process model. The principal stages of the model map
onto the fundamental development activities:
1. Requirements analysis and definition. The systems services, constraints and goals are
established by consultation with system users. Both users then define them in a manner,
which is understandable and development staff.
2. System and software design. The systems design process partitions the requirements to
either hardware or software systems. It establishes an overall system architecture.
Software design involves representing the software system functions in a form that may
be transformed into one or more executable programs.
3. Implementation and unit testing. During this stage, the software design is realized as a
set of programs or program unit. Unit testing involves verifying that each unit meets its
specification.
4. Integration and system. The individual program units or programs are integrated and
tested as a complete system to ensure that the software requirements have been met.
After testing, the software system is delivered to the customer.
5. Operation and maintenance. Normally this is the longest life cycle phase. The system is
installed and put into practical use. Maintenance involves correcting errors which were
not discovered in earlier stages of the life cycle, improving the implementation of
system units and enhancing the systems services as new requirements are discovered.
