INTRODUCTION

1.1.

Purpose
This is a proposal for the incoming students of De La Salle College of

Saint Benilde and their parents. First, the proponents will identify problems
concerning the school. Then the proponents will make the promotional video
endorsing the courses at De La Salle College of Saint Benilde and its
campuses.

1.2.

Problem
1.2.1 Campuses are separated from each other, so parents are
concerned about their sons and daughters safety

De La Salle College of Saint Benilde has three different

campuses. Taft campus, which is located along Taft Avenue in front of De
La Salle University, the School of Design, and Arts which is located P.
Ocampo (formerly Vito Cruz) street and Angelo King International Center,
which is located at Estrada Street, corner Arellano Avenue. Parents are
concerned with their sons and daughters safety because in order to attend
their classes that are scheduled in different campuses, students have to
walk along the busy streets surrounding the three campuses.

1.2.2 Students and parents only know the most popular degree programs

In the Philippines, the most popular degree that the schools offered
are Bachelors Degree programs. Parents are not aware about the other
degree programs. The De La Salle College of Saint Benilde offers most
of the courses that are not offered form other colleges or schools.

1.2.3. Incoming frosh and transferees do not know the facilities and the
way around De La Salle College of Saint Benilde

Since the college has three campuses, frosh and transferees are
not familiar with the different facilities of each building. Most students
coming from their building get confused when they visit another building,
especially in School of Design Arts where room number assignment are
mistaking. Also, the floor directory on the ground floor is not noticeable
because of its wrong location. Therefore, most students especially the
frosh have no idea about the floor descriptions.

1.2.4. Parents think that De La Salle College of Saint Benilde is a

school intended for students who failed in De La Salle University or
other schools

Parents think that De La Salle College of Saint Benilde is a

school intended for students who failed or have been kicked out of De La
Salle University or other top universities. However, contrary to popular
belief, College of Saint Benilde has many students enrolling from different
countries of the world.

DISCUSSION
2.1.

ANALYSES

The promotional video is a project proposal that aims to provide pieces of

information about De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, including the security
system of the campuses, facilities and equipment, and the different degree
programs offered by the school. The objective of this promotional video is to
inform and familiarize parents and high school graduates of what DLS-CSB has
to offer. The video will also include a thorough discussion of the different schools
in DLS-CSB.

The promotional video will first introduce DLS-CSB, with focus on the
different

schools

and

their

course

offerings.

It

will

present

current

accomplishments of the schools and their future plans. The video will also show
what makes DLS-CSB different from other colleges and universities and why it is
the appropriate school for upcoming students who want to specialize in fields
such as Multimedia Arts, Interior Design, or Consular of Diplomatic Affairs.

Parents and students interested in DLS-CSB will benefit from this video
because it presents the school in every aspect, allowing those interested to really
see what the school has to offer without having to visit the whole campus. The
video will also include tips for upcoming frosh students which will be useful for
the rest of their years as a Benildean student.

According to the DLS-CSB prospectus, DLS-CSB is a student-centered

learning school, an approach to education focusing on the needs of the students,
rather than those of others involved in the educational process, such as teachers
and administrators. This means the teachers are more hands on and teach at the
students pace. The school offers its students far advanced and up-to-date
facilities and equipment such as other leading universities, here in the country,
that offer the same courses. These facilities will be shown in the video, allowing
the future students of this school to see a glimpse of this hands-on learning
experience and assure they are making the right choice in choosing to start and
graduate as a Benildean.

2.2.

METHODOLOGY

Regarding the project commercial proposal, the proponents will have to

first research about the school facilities and analyze the current situation of De
La Salle College of Saint Benilde then the proponents will also evaluate the
existing promotional video of De La Salle College of Saint Benilde for the
proponents to determine the other school highlights that should be added. They
will present methods used in proposal design, sampling procedure, respondents,
data gathering instruments, method of analysis, and the statistical tool as well.

The target respondents of the proposal are 20 students of De La Salle College of Saint Benilde. Students will represent their school or specialization:
School of Management and Information Technology, School of Multidisciplinary
Studies, School of Deaf Education and Applied Studies, School of Design and
Arts, and School of Hotel Restaurant and Institution Management.

The promotional video follows the qualitative design of the proposal. It

includes description, analysis and interpretation of the collected data. (Niel J.
Salkind, 2003) This descriptive qualitative project proposal will be concerning the
condition that prevails on the subject at hand. Furthermore, this project proposal
covers the element of interpretation of the significance of the promotional video in

De La Salle College of Saint Benilde. It is therefore, a purposive promotional

video proposal for the college.

The software that the proponents will use is the Corel Video Studio X4
wherein the software was used by some video editors. It is the windows software
that is equal to iMovie in Apple Mac.

The sampling procedure employed by the proponents fall under the

category of non-probability sampling wherein the sample is not an equal
proportion of the population and there is no system in selecting the sample. In
here, the selection will depend upon the situation. The proponents will choose
convenient purposive sampling procedure in picking out respondents in the
most convenient and fastest way to immediately get their reaction to the topic.

The proponents will use questionnaire method where questionnaires will

be given to students of De La Salle - College of Saint Benilde. They will use a
recognition type of questionnaire where the respondents check the answer after
the question.

After the retrieval of the questionnaires, the proponents will tabulate and
process data manually. The data gathered will be transferred to a tabular and
graphical form in which the proponents will systematically examine and derive
computation. The proponents will use simple tabulating procedures by using

Microsoft Excel wherein one of the proponents will read the data and the other
will record them on the tabulation sheet.

To analyze the data, the proponents will use frequency and percentage
method of calculation wherein the frequency of the respondents who will answer
a particular question will be divided into the total number of the surveyed
respondents. The answer will be multiplied to one hundred percent (100%) to get
the overall percentage.

The following are the inferential statistical tools that they will use in this
proposal as instruments and basis for quantitative analysis and sufficient
interpretation of extant data. (Hair, Anderson, Tatham, & Black, 1995)
a)
b)

Frequency Distribution is a statistical treatment wherein data are

organized and counted into a desired form.
Percentage can be obtained by dividing the frequency with the total
number of frequency of number of population then multiplies the
quotient by 100.
The formula in finding the percentage is:
f
P = ---------- x 100
N
Where:
P = percentage
f = frequency
N = total number of respondents

c)

Ranking is used to describe the order of data obtained.

CONCLUSION
The proposal is intended to inform and familiarize the incoming students of De La

Salle College of Saint Benilde and their parents of what the school has to offer. The
idea that DLS CSB failed De La Salle University or other universities is just one fe w
problems of DLS CSB, however we intended to prove that wrong. While many are
indeed transferees, DLS CSB is a top choice for forthcoming students because they
believe it is the most appropriate school for them to strive as a student. Although some
have the idea that DLS CSB is a school intended for students who were unable to
maintain their stay in other leading schools, we proved that notion invalid with concrete
results from a survey we conducted. Results show that the 20 respondents are equally
frosh and transferees. Most of the transferees came from other Colleges than the
schools given on the questionnaire. Majority of the respondents agreed that the school
implement safety awareness inside and outside the school. Some students do not think
that the school has initiatives to promote the least demanded degree program in DLSCSB. They all agreed that the facts about DLS CSBs facilities are included in the
frosh orientation. Some are not aware of DLS CSBs sophisticated* learning
resources. Most of the students think that the most effective promotional strategy in
advertising DLS CSB is video or commercial approach. The video also included in this
proposal presents the DLS CSB and shows a glimpse of the learning experience that
the school offers. The forthcoming students of DLS CSB are assured to strive as a
student especially with the degrees offered such as Multimedia Arts, Interior Design,
and Animation and should eliminate any doubt they have of the school.

RECOMMENDATION
The objectives and findings of this proposal are recommended to the forthcoming

students of De La Salle College of Saint Benilde and their parents. The promotional
video will aid those interested in DLS CSB presenting tips for upcoming frosh students
which will be useful for the rest of their years as a Benildean student. DLS CSB is
recommended for those students who strive to specialize in fields such as such as:
Multimedia Arts, Interior Design, and Animation, which are not very prominent courses
offered in some of the finest universities here in the Philippines. Although some have
the idea that DLS CSB is a school intended for students who were unable to maintain
their stay in other leading schools, the proposal includes a study conducted with
students of DLS CSB, with survey questions such as if they are frosh or a transferee,
and if a transferee, which school they transferred from and their reason. The study
conducted is recommended to those who possess the negative idea of the school and
will help inquirers of DLS CSB further assist their interest in becoming a Benildean.
