Thisserverislocatedinsidethecompanysfirewallandperformsthefollowingtasks:

Handlesallmessaginglevelactivities,suchasencryption,decryption,anddigitalsignatures.

Takescareofbusinesslevellogictobeexecutedbyanindividualprotocol,suchasdocument
schemavalidation.

TIBCOBusinessConnectGatewayServer
TIBCOBusinessConnectGatewayServerislocatedinthedemilitarizedzone(DMZ)andcanhave
severalrestrictionsonthenetworksitcanaccess.ItreceivesB2Bcommunicationsdirectlyfromthe
InternetandperformsSSLvalidation.ThefirewallbetweentheGatewayServerandtherestofyour
systemprotectsagainstthethreatofmaliciouscommunications.
TIBCOBusinessConnectGatewayServerisastandaloneJavaexecutablethatisnotdependent
eitheronTIBCOActiveMatrixBusinessWorksoronTIBCORuntimeAgentinstallationhowever,itstill
needsTIBCORendezvoustocommunicatewiththeInteriorserver.TheGatewayServercanhost
severalcomponents:

HTTPServer

PartnerExpressServerThisserverprovidesasecurewebbasedaccessfortradingpartners,so
thattheexternalusersassociatedwiththesetradingpartnerscanloginandperformsimplefile
uploadsanddownloads.

FTPServerWiththisserver,theexternalusersrunninganFTPClientcanconnecttothehost
siterunningTIBCOBusinessConnect.

TCMServerTCMserverprovidesawebbrowserinterfacefortradingpartnerstomanagetheir
exchangeprofiles,andassiststhetradinghostinservingthepartnersinthetradingcommunity.All
servicesareprovidedthroughabrowserbasedinterfacethatallowspartnerstoreceivealerts,

securityandtransportupdates.

SSHFTPServerWiththisserver,theexternalusersrunninganSSHFTPClientcanconnectto
thehostsiterunningTIBCOBusinessConnect.

InteriorandGatewayServerCommunication
TwotypesofcommunicationareusedbetweentheGatewayandInteriorServers:JMXandTIBCO
Rendezvous.
JMXCommunication
ManagementoftheGatewayServerisperformedusingJMXmanagementprotocol.UsingTIBCO
Administrator,youcanremotelycontrolwhichcomponenttostartorstop.
WhenanemptyGatewayServercontainerisstarted,itfirstpublishesamessagewithinformation
aboutitsmanagementanddataports.TheInteriorServerislisteningonthesamesubject,subscribes
itself,andthentheJMXcommunication/datacommunicationforlargefilesisestablished.JMX
communicationisalsousedbetweentheTIBCOAdministratorGUIandtheInteriorServerasfollows:

FromtheTIBCOAdministratorGUITostartandstoptheserviceinstancesoreventsources,
suchasHTTP,FILE,SSHFTP,FTPS,FTP,TCM,andPX.

FromtheInteriorServerToautorestarttheeventsourcesinanactiveServiceInstanceto
monitortheheartbeatoftheGatewayServer.
