The Market Day Journal started out as an idea for a book, but Russel soon
realised that any attempt to tie down the iconic food market at the Biscuit
Mill in Cape Town in one volume would be to disregard its nature. With
designer Roxy Spears, he conceptualised a series of journals which, like
the market itself, are living things which have the capacity to change
constantly, with each successive iteration. This is the first issue.

Say goodbye to dull braais where steak, tjop and wors are the only things
on offer. In these pages you will find tips on how to light and maintain a
braai fire in the most common types of braai and look beyond the tjop and
wors to more delicate, well-crafted and healthy options from the fire. This
is a girl braai book in an area of cooking apparently dominated by the man
braai. Girls on Fire was produced by Russel Wasserfall in collaboration
with his wife Camilla Comins following an ongoing conversation about
why it was she was always being asked how to cook this or that at every
braai she went to.
