bhi NES10-2

One satisfied customer?

I have found this nice filter in the start of May in a

local amateur magazine. I thought it could be good to
check and use in my shack . The same time I called
the importer in Athens ( the capital) and asked for its
results and f or a comparison of it with the ICOMs
add on DSP. And his reply was nearly the same of

what I found in the internet: Being much better .

I then forwarded to make the order. My order was
satisfied in exactly 24 hrs! . I preferred to make a
prepayment order by courier.
And really I was very impressed with this small
speaker.

The box included ;

-Speaker with in-built audio cable and 1.9 mm plug (readily usable for both R75 and HF150)
- Adaptor cable fused on the positive lead
- (pi) base as support
- 4 small plastic balls

Oper ation:
When connected to the mains adaptor , the internal preamplifier is always on operation. Could prefer it to
rd
have a 3 position with preamp off
Nice operation wen used either on AUX or SPK with slight difference on audio quality AUX wins over SPK
Everything below is accompanied with pictures for better understanding

Using with the ICOM R75

Connected to AUX: Audio is so sharp as R75 with a little lower treble. Using both NES shows a small delay
by several sec so that a widening effect is produced.
Connected in SP output: good for variable audio and same audio quality

powerline plus noise

-Voices are cleared from usual QRN, music depth is lowered

DSP cancel

-Apparent QRN when signal is affected from strong QSB

High bandwidths are reduced once canceller is switched on in less than 200 ms . As you may see below in
rthe spectrogram , the 4500 Hz bandwidth has been compressed to bt 2500 HZ . The black curve shows the
upper frequency limits from this filtering

Par tial deletion of whistyles

carrier killing

Compar ing UT106 noise r educing module and NES

I have bought separately the 106 from the R75 , 2 month s later
Using the setting of 5 on both noise modules the NES gives much better results than UT106.

R75 DSP

NES 10-2

Using with LOWE HF150

MY very first listening with NES 10-2 was with HF150 the day I received it in my work place .
Hf150 is regularly connected to a TV Antenna with abt 16 m cable and connecte with twin wire into the 300
Ohm base
The QRN is very diferent from the QRN of my house. The building is full from fluorescent lamps , electrical
appliances . I can describe it as soft
AUX connection: as HF150 speaker is a little bassy audio from NES is quite sharp. When both speakers are
used the widening effect is apparent
SPK: has a less sharper audio
NO signal : noise is fully deleted in abt 1 sec

Also with this receiver there was a notch filter for a small band part
Some easy ignition noises presumably coming from fluorescent lamps

Using headphones
Using headphones requires audio attenuation by several dB. I mostly use the remote control of my AIWA
walkman

Using exter nal loudspeaker

Totally dependent of the audio quality of the speaker. Since the speakers audio is quite sharp my Arowana
speakers s are better to my ears!

And here is how the soeaker is heard without audio load
