Rhetoric is planned: this is obvious; a film is a planned art.
Rhetoric is adapted to audience/ This means attending to an audiences values,
experiences, belief etc.: for us, as college student, the movie offers us a picture of Harvard, student life that is familiar to us, or close to our imagination. As young adult, I can also understand the emotion of character through my own life experience (upset or even angry after dumped by girlfriends; jealous when friend gets stolen away from another person) Rhetoric reveal human motive/ human motives have a moral quality: in the movie when director describes the upset and depress of Saverin at the time he figure out Mark has been under the spell of Sean Parker, and find out he has been tricked for his deserved share in the company, I can totally understand his emotion. Those emotions are natural and understandable to me. I begin to have sympathy for him. Rhetoric is responsive: I think it is not only an action as responsive; even the deep-thinking pondering on success, personal value, and friendship can be called responsive. The movie let me think a lot on those things while watching. I even tie them back to my lifes experience, or put myself in their position. Appeal, pathos: the experience of Winklevoss brothers and Saverin. I feel really sorry for them, for the way Winklevoss is treated by the president of school. And the unfair treatment Saverin goes through. Even for Mark, for his unresolved tangling with Erica. Sympathy emerged. Rhetorical Virtues: the creativity, ambition in Mark can be named after the intellectual courage. The movie overall try to sell us a way to actively turn our idea into action, and dream something big. Work and fight for the thing we enjoy, love, and good at. So does intellectual knowledge valued in there. Also the gentleness in Winklevosss mind, the sense of community depicted through their images. The Slow camera movement also gives viewers time to contemplate the image and to question its significance / in other words, prolonged pans and tilts encourage viewer to engage with visual images on both a cognitive and an emotional level: in the movie when director takes a distance, long, and slow shot for Mark walking from the bar back to his dorm, the movement is really slow, and with the
background music, we can experience the depress. We begin to think what is
going to happen next, and what this end of relationship might bring him. Will he become upset for a long period time, or will he do something else? In order to create a sense of presence, virtual reality should come as close as possible to our daily visual experience.: in the movie, college students life is everyday life: dorm, parties, and friends. Hypermediacy, combination of random access with multiple media/: When they put background music to set up the tone for that part of the movie, the mix media meets the presentation even better. In the logic of hypermediacy, the artist (or multimedia programmer or web designer) strives to make the viewer acknowledge the medium as a medium and to delight in that acknowledgment.: the repeat and rapid change of party, writing code scenes in the movie, corresponding with the tense background music, I acknowledge the multimedia. It offers me a really good experience. I experiences two different lifestyle both for college students in the movie.
