MECHANICS OF EVENTS

Major Events

1. Basketball
i. There would be 2 teams per batch consisting of 15 players
maximum and 12 players minimum.
ii.This event will observe single elimination.
iii.Each team can be comprised of both genders.
iv.There will be 4 quarters.
v.The first two quarters will not allow substitutions. Time of 10
minutes nonstop will be observed. This means that when time
will still run even if the ball is out of play.
vi.The 3rd and 4th quarters will observe a time of 10 minutes of a
regular game.
vii.Each player must identify themselves with a unique number
per team which is to be found on the back of their shirts.
viii.A player will be fouled out if he/ she have committed 5 fouls.
ix.Each team will be given five 30 seconds timeouts for the 3rd and
4th quarter. No timeouts will be given to the teams during the 1st
2 quarters.
x.Points will be given each time the team shoots the ball in the
ring.
Scoring will follow the same in regular basketball games .
xi.Team with the greater score wins. In case of a tie, a 5 minutes
game will occur. Teams will be given two 30 seconds timeouts in
this incident.
xii.Any form of disrespect to any official will forfeit the team.
xiii.Players list should be passed a day before the start of
ComElympics.
xiv.No person is allowed to represent a team in the game if he/she
is not under the list in their team’s name.
xv.The officials’ decisions are final.

2. Volleyball
i. There would be 1 team per batch consisting of 12 members.
ii.This event will observe single elimination.
iii.Each team can be comprised of 6 male and 6 female members.
iv.There would be 3 sets.
v.In each set there should be 3 males and 3 females.
vi.Only male to male and female to female substitutions are
allowed.
vii.A team will get a point in the case of the error on the other
team.
viii.A team will win a set when they reach 25 points.
ix.In the case when both teams reach 24 points each, a team will
win the set if they will have a two point advantage over the
other team.
x.The team will win the game if they win 2 sets out of the 3.
xi.Any form of disrespect to any official will forfeit the team.
xii.Players list should be passed a day before the start of
ComElympics.
xiii.No person is allowed to represent a team in the game if he/she
is not under the list in their team’s name.
xiv.The officials’ decisions are final.

3. Table Tennis
a. Singles
i. There would be 2 players per batch.
ii.This event will observe single elimination.
iii.Players could be either male or female.
iv.The game would be comprised of 3 sets.
v.A player will be awarded a point in the error of the other.
vi.First person to reach 11 points will win the game.
vii.In case that each player achieves 10 points each, to win the
set, a player should have a two point advantage against the
other.
viii.Any form of disrespect to any official will forfeit the team.
ix.Players list should be passed a day before the start of
ComElympics.
x.No person is allowed to represent a team in the game if he/she
is not under the list in their team’s name.
xi.The officials’ decisions are final.

b. Doubles
i. There would be 2 teams of two players per batch.
ii.This event will observe single elimination.
iii.Players could be either male or female.
iv.The game would be comprised of 3 sets.
v.A team will be awarded a point in the error of the other.
vi.First team to reach 11 points will win the game.
vii.In case that each team achieves 10 points each, to win the set,
a team should have a two point advantage against the other.
viii.Any form of disrespect to any official will forfeit the team.
ix.Players list should be passed a day before the start of
ComElympics.
x.No person is allowed to represent a team in the game if he/she
is not under the list in their team’s name.
xi.The officials’ decisions are final.

4. Badminton Doubles
i. There would be 2 teams of 2 players per batch.
ii.This event will observe single elimination.
iii.Players could be either male or female.
iv.The game would be comprised of 3 sets.
v.A team will be awarded a point in the error of the other.
vi.First team to reach 21 points will win the game.
vii.In case that each team achieves 20 points each, to win the set,
a team should have a two point advantage against the other.
viii.Any form of disrespect to any official will forfeit the team.
ix.Players list should be passed a day before the start of
ComElympics.
x.No person is allowed to represent a team in the game if he/she
is not under the list in their team’s name.
xi.The officials’ decisions are final.

5. Soccer Baseball
i. There would be 15 players per batch.
ii.This event will observe single elimination.
iii.Players can be either male or female.
iv.9 players will play on the field and the other 4 will stay on the
bench.
v.Rules of a regular soccer-baseball game will be followed.
vi.Team with the greater number of home runs wins.
vii.Any form of disrespect to any official will forfeit the team.
viii.Players list should be passed a day before the start of
ComElympics.
ix.No person is allowed to represent a team in the game if he/she
is not under the list in their team’s name.
x.The officials’ decisions are final.

6. Chess
i. There would be 6 players per batch. 2 of which are alternates.
ii.This event would observe round robin procedure.
iii.Players can be either male or female.
iv.Only 4 players assigned as board 1 to 4 will play on a certain
round. The other 2 will be alternates.
v.Players can change board assignments before each round
starts.
vi.No substitutions are allowed while a round is on the process.
vii.A chess clock will be given in the event that the game arrives
at its 1 hour mark.
viii.A point will be given to the team each time a player of their
team wins their game. In case of a tie, each team will be
awarded ½ of a point.
ix.Any form of disrespect to any official will forfeit the team.
x.Players list should be passed a day before the start of
ComElympics.
xi.No person is allowed to represent a team in the game if he/she
is not under the list in their team’s name.
xii.The officials’ decisions are final.

7. Soccer
i. There would be 15 players per batch.
ii.Players can either be male or female.
iii.There will be initially 11 players (1 as the goalie and 10 as the
offensive and defensive players) in the playing area.
iv.Substitutions will be only allowed during the ball is out of play.
v.The game will be divided into two 30 minutes halves.
vi.Rules of a regular soccer game will be followed.
vii.Team with greater number of goals at the end of the game
wins.
viii.In case of a tie, there would be tie breaker through a penalty
shootout will be done. Team with greater goals wins.
ix.Any form of disrespect to any official will forfeit the team.
x.Players list should be passed a day before the start of
ComElympics.
xi.No person is allowed to represent a team in the game if he/she
is not under the list in their team’s name.
xii.The officials’ decisions are final.

Minor Events:

1. Patintero
i. There would be 6 players per batch.
ii.This event will observe single elimination format.
iii.Each team will be given 3 minutes to through the course with
the other team as their obstacles.
iv.In the event that a player from the defensive team tags a
player from the offensive team, the defensive team acquires a
point.
v.In the case that a player from the offensive team finishes the
course without being tagged, their team wins a point.
vi.In case the 3 minutes time is over and none of IV and V has
occurred, no points will be given to both teams however, the
highest level they can achieve will be recorded.
vii.Defensive team players can only travel on the specific
locations they are allowed to.
viii.There will be 4 cycles in the event with each team can play
twice as offensive and defensive players.
ix.Team with the greater number of points wins.
x.In case of a tie, team with the greater accumulated level
achieved will win.
xi.Any form of disrespect to any official will forfeit the team.
xii.The officials’ decisions are final.

1. American Dodge ball


i. There would be 10 players per batch.
ii. This will observe single elimination format.
iii.Each team can be comprised of male or female.
iv.Each team will be assigned a playing area where they are only
allowed to travel around.
v. There would be 4 cycles where each team can be twice in the
offensive and defensive.
vi.For the 1st two cycles, each team will choose 5 players to be in
the playing area and the other 5 to be in the collectors area. For
the 2nd two cycles, they will change works.
vii. Each cycle will have a 3 minutes time allotment.
viii.Before each cycle starts, 5 balls will be placed in the middle of
the arena. Players will be also in their starting positions where
each team will be of same distance away from the balls. On go
that players will race to get the balls and will be given 3 seconds
to prepare for attack or defense.
ix.A team will win a point each time they hit a player with the ball
from the other team.
x. In case of a tie, a tie breaker round will be done.
xi.Any form of disrespect to any official will forfeit the team.
xii.The officials’ decisions are final.

1. DOTA Tournament
i. There would be 3 teams of 5 players per batch.
ii. This event will follow single elimination format.
iii. Players can either be male or female.
iv. All pick, captain mode will be observed in the game.
v. Team who destroys the main tower of the other team wins.
vi. Any form of disrespect to any official will forfeit the team.
vii. Players list should be passed a day before the start of
ComElympics.
viii.No person is allowed to represent a team in the game if he/she
is not under the list in their team’s name.
ix. The officials’ decisions are final.

1. Japanese Game
i. There would be 15 players per batch.
ii. This event will follow single elimination format.
iii. Players can either be male or female.
iv. A time of 15 minutes will be allotted for a game.
v. A point will be given to a team that captures a person of the
other team.
vi. 5 points will be given to a team that tags the base of the
other team.
vii. Team with the greater points at the end of the game wins.
viii.In case of a tie, each team will pick 2 players of their team
where one as the tagger and one as the runner. Both
runners are positioned with the same distance with respect
to the other team’s tagger. On go, first tagger to catch the
runner of the other team will give the win to their team.
These players can only run on the area provided. If the player
runs outside the area, the other team wins the game.
ix. Any form of disrespect to any official will forfeit the team.
x. Players list should be passed a day before the start of
ComElympics.
xi. No person is allowed to represent a team in the game if
he/she is not under the list in their team’s name.
xii. The officials’ decisions are final.

1. Chinese Garter
i. There would be 5 players per batch.
ii. This game will observe the last player standing format.
iii. Players can either be male or female.
iv. There would be different levels of the game where the
greater the level, the harder will be the challenge be.
v. A player will be eliminated if the player fails to do what is
required for that level.
vi. Last player standing wins.
vii. Any form of disrespect to any official will forfeit the team.
viii.The officials’ decisions are final.

1. Jackstone
i. There would be 2 players per batch.
ii. This event will follow last player standing format.
iii. Players can either be male or female.
iv. There would be different levels of the game where the
greater the level, the harder will be the challenge be.
v. A player will be eliminated if the player fails to do what is
required for that level.
vi. Last player standing wins.
vii. Any form of disrespect to any official will forfeit the team.
viii.The officials’ decisions are final.

1. Dance Showdown
i. There would be 1 team per batch consisting of not less than
6 and more than 12 persons.
ii. Players can either be male or female.
iii. Team with the greatest points from the criteria wins.
iv. Any form of disrespect to any official will forfeit the team.
v. The officials’ decisions are final.

Additional Rules for games:

• On the 1st and 2nd days, January 28-29, 2009, players are required to wear the
official ComElympics t-shirt with their respective batch colors in order to play
their game.
• On the 3rd day however, players can wear any shirt as long as it is of their
batch color when they play their games.
• If the team fails to arrive at the playing area after 15 minutes of their game
schedule, their game will be forfeited.
