Introduction
The HydroCOM Service & Configuration Software, HSS, is used for data and
status display, service and configuration of following HOERBIGER products:
HydroCOM
RecipCOM (On-line compressor condition monitoring)
ROD-Position Analyzer
Analysis
Service
Configuration
The Analysis level is used for data and status display. At this level user failures do
never cause system failures.
Service is only applicable for those users being in charge of service and
maintenance. In addition to Analysis the necessary functions are available in order
to calibrate sensors and to download the configuration file to the CIU.
Warning!
If the wrong file is downloaded to the CIU the compressor may trip and the
equipment be damaged.
The Configuration level is dedicated for HOERBIGER Service Engineers or
advanced users only. In addition to Service and Analysis you have access to
configure the system.
Warning!
Wrong configuration may cause system failure, compressor trip and even
equipment damages.
Passwords are necessary for logon to Service and Configuration.
The manual is built up in that way, that it is not necessary for all users to work
through the complete document. In the below diagram you find the manual
sections that are applicable for the access level you have.

3.1.1 File
Open
The files generated with HSS have the extension *.su4. These file do not only
contain configuration data, but also calibration data, HydroCOM status and
measurement values at the time when the file was saved.
Use Open for following tasks:
Rework existing configuration file
View configuration
View HydroCOM status and measurements being off-line; HydroCOM status
and measurements are shown from that time when the file was saved.

Save (as)
Use Save (as) for following tasks:
Saving of the current HydroCOM status and measurements.
Saving of configuration
Saving of calibration data
Note:
After sensor calibration the file must be saved. Otherwise calibration must
be repeated in case hardware components are exchanged.
New
Use New to start a new configuration.
Exit
Use Exit to exit HSS.
3.1.2 Settings
Unit System
Select the unit system before you start configuration. SI, German, English and
American units are available. The unit system is used for assigning measuring
ranges to the sensors during the configuration process. It is not possible to use the
unit system for changing the units for data display. Once units are configured they
can not be varied for data display.
Note:
If the Unit System is changed for an existing configuration all units are
deleted and have to be defined again. If RecipCOM is connected to the CIU
the units must not be changed.
Connection
Use Connection to assign the COM port you are using for communicating with the
CIU.
Available ports: COM 1 to 8
Communication between your PC/Laptop and the CIU is done via RS232. Each
RS232 interface has a COM port number defined by your operating system. In
most cases it is COM 1. The COM port number can be seen in the Windows
operating system. To check the number go to:
Control panel / system / hardware / device manager / connections
Language
You can choose between German and English. If you change the language exit the
HSS and start it again.
Change Password
Service and Configuration menu are password protected. Use Change Password if
you want to change from the default password to your own.

View CIU
Click View CIU and following window opens (example):
2012-03-29
The SIM status display shows the error codes. Click the buttons to scroll
through the list. The most recent error is on top of the list. The most previous error
is on the bottom of the list.
Click on the Erase button to clear the error list. Errors that are still active can not
be cleared.
The load signal is shown in the load signal output field.
If you move the mouse cursor on the error code the error clear text is displayed in
the status line of CIU window.
The GIM status display shows the status of the LEDs on the GIM hardware.
In addition operating hours, hours of HydroCOM control and speed are shown.
The IPS status display shows the status of the LED on the IPS hardwarePlease refer to the CIU operating instructions for detailed error/warning description
and troubleshooting.
Click on Simulation to start the HydroCOM electronic test run for all actuators. If
Simulation is on the HydroCOM operation is simulated at min. speed.
If you click the buttons SIM the following window opens
4.5
View Actuator
The same window (example) opens if you click View Actuator:
This window contains on the left the SIM status display, load signal and baud rate.
Actuator status, actuator temperature and hydraulic pressure (option) are
displayed for each actuator.
Click Clear Error to clear errors.
10

Click Simulation to start and stop the HydroCOM electronic test run. When
Simulation is on the button turns red.
Click the buttons on/off in the line Single Simul. in order to start the test run for
individual actuators. This test run mode is used to test the correct address of each
actuator. If Single Simulation is on the button turns to ON. If Single Simulation is off
the button turns to off.

View FTIM
Click View FTIM to display TIM measurement or FTIM average values.
The TIM window (example) contains on the left the SIM status display, load signal
and baud rate.
TIM, sensor status and measurement values are shown for each TIM.
The Fast-TIM window (example) contains on the left the SIM status display, load
signal and baud rate.
Fast-TIM, sensor status and measurement values are shown for each Fast-TIM. If
high frequency measurement is enabled, the indicated value is the average value
of one revolution

Example:
Indicator pressure Fast-TIM 2.9; channel 1;
Tag Name: P-Cyl1-CE
Below the x-axis the Load Signal of the relevant stage and the time stamp of the
sampling are displayed.
Click the button Copy to clipboard to export the graph into a word processing
program.
Click the button Load Profile to view a new set of measurements.
Click the button Export to CSV-File to save the displayed profile to a MicrosoftExcel compatible CSV-File. How to get this CSV-File in MS-Excel and make a
diagram is described in the next chapter.
Click the checkbox Automatic CSV export after Load Profile to save the profile
(which can be refreshed by clicking Load Profile) additionally to the CSV-File. With
this function it is possible to save several profiles in one CSV-file.
The file name for the CSV-File is the same like the Tag-Name of the FTIM-channel.
So in our example this would be P-Cyl1-CE. This file is saved direct in the folder
Exports in the folder of the Hoerbiger Service Software HSS (Version 4.20 or
higher).
Zoom Graph
Fix the left window corner with a left mouse click and keep the button pressed.
Drag the button to fix the right corner and the window zooms in.
