Swimming Pool and Beach

Tragic water accidents happen quickly. The most common reason for
aquatic mishaps is a lack of safety knowledge. Hence, it is critical for a resort to
come up with its measure (for the resort itself) and rules (for the customers)
regarding water safety and make sure that customers are informed, in advance,
of these rules to guarantee that they are protected, away from danger while
having fun. The La Puesta del Sol recognizes that not to obey these safety rules
is just plain foolhardy and dangerous. Thus, compliance with these rules will be
strictly implemented.
Measures
1. Lifeguards There are 6 lifeguards to monitor the pool and beach area.
Swimming will be prohibited unless a lifeguard is on duty. Knowing what
dangerous lie in water, they are tasked to ensure the safety of patrons of
swimmers by preventing and responding to emergencies.

They maintain

constant surveillance of customers in the facility and acts immediately and

appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency. In addition,
they provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of
emergency medical services.

2. Beach Warning Flags - These beach warning flags will be placed on the
proper areas. These safety signs will help swimmers identify potential dangers at
the beach, therefore, avoiding them.
3. Removable Pool Fences A removable fence (that can only be removed by
adults) will be installed completely around the kiddy pool. The fence will be at
least 4 feet high and will have no foot of handholds that could help a young child
to climb it. It provides a high level of safety for children under 5 years old by
inhibiting their access to the water.
4. Safety Rescue Equipment Life vests, boats, and other lifesaving equipment
will be kept by the pool and near the beach for immediate response to
accidents/emergencies. A first aid kit will also be handy.
5. Customer Notification The set of rules will be posted to a large information
wall by the beach and by the pool. Information sheets may also be given before
they can swim. Children will have the rules explained to them in a language they
understand and the lifeguard will make sure that they understand how important
they are. Babysitters will be instructed about potential pool hazards to young
children. The need for constant supervision will be emphasized.

Rules
1. Always swim within sight of a lifeguard. Always obey the lifeguards orders
immediately. To not obey a lifeguard is a crime. If you have any questions, or are
not sure about a rule, the lifeguard is the person to ask.
2. Children should never be left to swim alone. An adult should always be with
them. Supervise children closely, even when lifeguards are present.
3. Adults should swim with the buddy systems. Never swim alone. Get a friend to
swim with you- so you can look out for each others safety and get help if needed.
4. Swim only in designated areas. Non designated areas could be dangerous for
many reasons such as sharp rocks on the bottom. Find the flags and swim
between them- the red and yellow flags mark the safest place to swim at the
beach. Do not outside the red and yellow flags which mark the safe swimming
area. Do Not bathe where there are no safety flags in position.
5. Stick your hand up for help- if you get into trouble in the water, stay calm, and
raise your arm to signal for help.
6. Protect your head, neck and spine-dont drive into unfamiliar waters-feet first,
fist time.
7. Do not struggle if seized with cramp, but raise your arm for help, float and
keep the affected parts of your body perfectly still.

8. No glass containers at the beach or near the pool are- broken glass and bare
feet dont mix.
9. Learn how to help. If the victim is within throwing distance, throw a floatable
object to them. This includes a life jacket or even an empty gallon jug.
10. And remember NEVER;
Never swim if the beach is unpatrolled.
Never ever swim at night.
Never swim under the influence of alcohol.
Never run and dive into the water.
Never swim directly after a meal.
