SmallParticleReagent(SPR):Notascommonastheothermethodsused,butstillimportant.
SPRisusedforwetsurfacesandreactswiththelipidspresentinfingerprints.

DNA
AlthoughmanycompetitionsthathaveincludeDNAasevidencerequirematchingofDNA
fingerprints,questionsaboutbasicDNAphysiologyandprinciplescomeupalongwiththem.
PCR(PolymeraseChainReaction),amethodofsyntheticDNAreplication,alsocomesup
sometimes.
ThefournucleotidesthatcomposeDNAareadenine,cytosine,thymine,andguanine.
WithaDNAfingerprint,largerfragmentsofDNAarelocatedontherightsidewhilesmaller
onesarelocatedontheleft.Thisisbecauseofgelelectrophoresis,whichmakethefingerprints.
Whenthecurrentrunsthroughthegelduringthisprocess,becauseDNAisnegativelycharged,it

participantsmustbeabletocomparetheevidencefromthecrimescenetothatwhichisfoundon
thesuspects.Theymayalsoberequiredtomatchcertaintypesofseedsorpollenstoaregionof
thenationorworld,whichisgenerallycommonsense.Itis,however,helpfultohaveageneral
knowledgeaboutvariouskindsofpollenandcommonregionallyidentifiableplants.Thismay
includeplantssuchascottonorrice,whichcanonlygrowinspecificclimates.
Tracks:Inthissection,mostobservationswillbequalitative.Often,theonlynecessaryactionis
