Montage
Description:
An inspiriational montage made by blending two
images and the use of typography

Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe Photoshop
Process:
Started by cropping the background image and
resizing it. Then I added the girl and used a mask
to blend her into the waves. I then used a very low
opacity mask to give her a really soft look. I then
lowered the vibrancy and layered a blue to grey
rectangle over her and used another mask to give
it some more depth. I then added the text and put
a layer style to it.

Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe Illustrator
Process:
Sketched out several pages of different company
ideas and then some more pages for Owl Books,
these three sketches were the ones I liked the most.
Then using my minimal skill in AI and some of my
skills from photoshop, I created these three logos.
It was a lot of fun. I used the ellipse tool to make
the owls, the pen tool to make their beaks and
the branch for the third one. I used the rounded
rectangle to make the book. For the owl eyes in the
middle, the spine of the book, and the rounded ears
I used the direct select tool.

Adobe InDesign
Process:
I created the logo, elephant, in Illustrator using simple
shapes then going back over with the anchor edit point
tool and direct select tool to round the edges and
manipulate them into the shapes seen here. To make the
ears and eyes for the elephant, I used the shape builder
tool and two ellipses to make those crescent shapes. To
make the birds I made triangles and using the the anchor
edit point tool, I rounded the edges and made simplistic
birds. I mirrored the elephant shape and added my
contact information and the three lines. I made my name
12pt font to contrast with the 8pt contact information
with every page. I didnt add a watermark, because I
feel that they can overused, and that my stationary is
already very recognizable as my own with the elephants
and the birds.

Text Wrangler
Process:
I used Text Wrangler and the assistance of my friend
Paden to write the CSS and HTML, I also used the
websites and tutorials suggested by the professor.
Ive never worked in CSS or HTML so this was super
hard for me. To get the colors for the page, I sourced
them from the Logo itself. Using the gold from the
eyes I colored the background so the owl and the
company title would stand out. I used the blue for
the headers. The brown border I actually used the
background of the books, so it would blend a bit
better. I used http://www.W3.org to make sure
everything validated.

Adobe InDesign
Process:
Did four sketches of different design ideas. Then used the sketch
as a guide to make the first draft in Adobe InDesign. I used the
large circle to draw the eye to the image, title, and text. I made
the box behind in the text white instead of grey to create more
white space and open up the space for the overall ad. I put the
logo in the top above the date, time, and place to keep more
of the white space. I made sure to align the three faces in the
image up with the circle to keep the eye moving.

Microsoft Word
Adobe Photoshop
Process:
Cropped the image in photoshop, then in Word, I
placed text above the image. Aligned it with the cat
so it would look nicer as a whole.
Changes Made:
Redid this image, with the suggestions from Brother
Kerr in mind. Made the back image a litte cooler, this
made the vibrancy higher. I moved the text Everyone
needs a home to the top to increase the white space.
I encountered a lot of errors while redoing this
project.

Adobe InDesign
Process:
I used Illustrator, Indesign, and Photoshop to make
this project. I made the Logo, whale, and fish in
illustrator, using the pen tool and direct select. I
also used the ellipse tool and direct select. To edit
the pictures, I shaped them in illustrator with the
rounded rectangle tool and a clipping mask. I made
the paragraph styles match each other with a Line
space style overall. I wrapped the text around the
image with text wrapping and edited that so it
wouldnt warp other text with direct select. To make
the waves, I made a large rectangle and then copy
and pasted circles. I then used the shape tool and
deleted the shapes of the circles out of it to give it
that wave feel. This was a really hard project.
