the fear out of soldiers suffering from PTSD. And apparently you can make money doing it. An
added bonus is that you can even cast out the fear and anxiety out of yourself, just by fixing a
few "bugs" inherent in your DNA.

A Soldier's Perspective
Gee, sounds perfect, so where do I sign?
So, what does "bio-engineer the fear" mean exactly? Ask Great Life Technologies. They
promise a near-utopian and blissful existence, i.e., "great life" for veterans suffering from PTSD
and its related symptoms.
Using pseudo-science New Age buzz words like "pure awareness," "vaporize your fear," and
"The Power of How" (strikingly similar to Oprah Winfrey's personal New Age guru, Eckert
Tolle's, "The Power of Now"), this California-based company is out to prove once and for
allthat mind over matter really does work...with a little help from technology, of course.
Now as far as I can tell, God is nowhere to be found in this Utopian equation for happiness and
health anymore that He can be found in any of the other hundreds of pseudo science-based
religions like, for example, Scientology. In fact, both of them (Great Life and Scientology) are
based on similar concepts, albeit the latter "religion" notably lacking in celebrity endorsements
and cult status. (It also helps if you can have, as your founder, a genetically-gifted and prolific

science fiction writer determined to prove that anyone can start their own religion and succeed.)
What distinguishes Great Life Technologies and their ilk is that they don't pretend to be a
religion (since most people still don't regard "humanism" as a religion), but rather simply
another post humanistic solution to the problem of sin and sufferingmaladies that have
plagued mankind since the beginning of time and for which mankind has never stopped trying
to fix.
However, like Scientology, in order to have that so-called "Great Life" you do have to cough up
a great deal of dough in order to realize your emotional and spiritual freedom. Fortunately,
unlike Scientology., you don't have to brainwash your spouse, your children or alienate the rest
of your family and friends (termed "SP's or "suppressive persons" in Scientology.) to arrive at
that ultimate state of "clear" (a state that in Scientology can easily set you back hundreds of
thousands of dollars.)
In contrast, Christianity offers the truth free of charge: "And you shall know the Truth and the
Truth shall make you free," Jesus tells us. I always contend that it should also be freeas in
not cost you anything to have it (truth) since it was, after all, already paid for by the atoning
blood of Jesus Christ. In other words, He paid the price (for sin) so we don't have to.
So, one might ask, what's the big deal about social engineering anyway? I mean, if it works,
who cares how much it costs? Besides, can't it be compatible to Christianity? After all, doesn't
God want us to be happy?
