BROCHURE

Programs/Tools Used: Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop

I used Adobe InDesign to set up an offset style for my brochure. I wanted to

do the offset so that I could showcase my balloon drawings on the cover as
well as the inside of the brochure. I traced the drawings from images in Illustrator using the pen tool.
For the cover I decided to display my logo prominently. I made my logo in
Illustrator using the pen tool to trace a balloon. I decided to keep it simple
with the design just filled in and then placed my type. I decided to cut out
the words from the image so that it could be place over any background. I
did this by creating outlines of the words and then using the pathfinder tool
to unite the elements. I then deleted the actual letters, leaving them cut out
into the balloon.
On the inside I decided to make my sections the things that I thought were
most alluring about the fiesta. I did two cutout images because I liked the
way they looked. I used the quick select tool in Photoshop to get the cutout
photos and then adjusted my text in InDesign using the textwrap tool and
chose to wrap around the alpha channel of the image.
For the back of my brochure I decided to use an image that I had of the balloons in the sky. In order to make it blend in more with the blue of the rest
of the brochure I turned down the vibrance in Photoshop and then placed a
blue box in front of it and turned down the transparency so it would still
have that blue hue.

MONTAGE

Programs/tools used: Adobe Photoshop and my Canon Power Shot camera.

I picked out the spiritual message I wanted to convey and then used a
friend as a model to take the photos I thought would work well with it.
I applied a few basic edits to the background image and then cropped it to
a size of 8.5 x 11. I placed the face photo of my friend on top of the background image, then added a mask. I used a black paint brush at an opacity
of 100% to get rid of most of the background around the top image and
then used a brush at 30% to crop closer to my friend. I then applied the
black brush at 11% over the bottom half of my friend to make a more gradual blend. I added in my text, emphasizing certain words by making them
bigger and aligned it line by line.

EVENT AD

Programs/Tools: Microsoft Word and a scanner

I scanned the basketball image then picked out a triadic color scheme
to go with the orange of the basketball. I used the word image effects
to cut out the basketball and put an indigo tint over the photo with
the basketball above it. I also placed the basketball over some of the
text to give the ad dimension. I used a semi-transparent indigo box
underneath my text to make it more readable.
Revisions: I pulled the text farther away from the edges and made the
blue box under my orange text less transparent so the words could
be more readable.

LOGOS

Programs/Tools Used: Adobe Illustrator

I spent most of my time trying to pick out fonts that I thought worked
well together. Then I used the pen and direct selection tools to create
my chef hat and my cherry. I used the shape tools to create my cake as
well as the direct selection tool to get it exactly how I wanted.I spent
a lot of time trying to pick the best color scheme for each logo and let
my beautiful fonts do the rest.
Revisions: For my top logo I decided the original pink and purple colors
that I had made the design a little busy and were unneeded. I decided to
turn it more into flat design and spent a lot of time picking a color for
the background. I then turned the design itself white to stand out. For
the middle logo I decided the original yellow and purple color scheme I
had was horrendous and set off to change it. I also changed some of
the weights of my lines to make it work better.

LETTERHEAD
Programs/Tools: Adobe InDesign and Illustrator

I created the logo in Adobe Illustrator using mostly the pen tool to
trace over an image of a cupcake to create a recognizable outline. The
rest of the logo is mostly just my typography. Once it was created, I
placed my logo into and InDesign document to make my stationary. I
decided to go simple and use a salmony pink colored bar across the
top to put my information on. I decided to use the cupcake from my
logo in a simple watermark on the page.
Revisions: I lightened my watermark quite a bit so it was more of a
true watermark. I moved the text in my logo a little away from my
cupcake to make it look a little better. I also changed the text and
logo to white as in my business card.

BUSINESS CARD
Programs/Tools: Adobe InDesign and Illustrator

I created the logo in Adobe Illustrator using mostly the pen tool to
trace over an image of a cupcake to create a recognizable outline. The
rest of the logo is mostly just my typography. For my business card I
decided to make the logo prominent on the front with my beautiful
pink color again. With some critique I decided to make the logo white
to give the card a softer feel. I repeated the watermark on the front
behind my information and then added in the order something special
today to add a little more advertising to the card.
Revisions: I lightened my watermark quite a bit so it was more of a
true watermark. I moved the text in my logo a little farther from the
cupcake to make it look a little better. I also rearranged my typography to make the card look a bit more structured and readable.

PHOTODESIGN
Programs/Tools: Canon Camera and Adobe Photoshop

To start I set off with my camera and book of color schemes. When I
ran into a perfect natural split complementary color scheme of violet,
green, and yellow, I used my canon Power Shot to take some good photos of it. In photoshop, I first applied the specific tools of levels, sharpen (Sharpening my bees quite a bit), vibrance & saturation, and color
balance. I pulled my photo onto an 8.511 document and began designing. I colored the text to match my bees and bring in more of the yellow needed for my color scheme. When I found that my text was hard
to read, I pulled on a semi transparent violet box and then cropped my
bees to be on a new layer. I set my bees and text above the box and
everything else below to really make them pop.

Revisions: I further darkened the image except for the bees to make
them more noticable. I also pulled my text a bit farther from the edges. I spent a lot of time looking at different fonts but went back to my
lovely cursive because it stole my heart and compliments the somewhat
boring flowers well.

FLIER

Programs/Tools: Adobe Photoshop

To get my creative juices flowing, I dreamed up a couple sketches.

Using the ideas in my sketches, I created a shape map in InDesign
and plugged in the image, logo, and content I was given to my design. I decided to use three triangles as a graphic to appeal to the
rule of odds and added one large triangle to add some asymmetry
and draw in the audience. Since I thought both parts of the title
were important, I wanted to find a way to equally emphasize them
all. I used a drastically bigger type size for leadership conference
and a much more intricate, script font for graduate. To keep my
flier easier to look at, I decided to never go completely black, excluding the black in the logo

Revisions: I played around with the logo a lot in this but ended up
leaving it where it was before. I did space out my words for Do you
want the competitive edge in business? a bit more.

WEBPAGE

Programs/Tools Used: Notepad & Photoshop

I created my website in notepad using html coding. It was really hard

to figure out how to put the correct codes in the correct places but
interesting to see how the coding effects the layout of the website.
I then attatched a CSS document to add some pazazz to the site. I
decided to change my original logo a bit by making it simply white
so that I could use flat colors to make my website more simple and
classy. I changed the headline fonts to Roboto, a google font that
does not need backup fonts. I also changed the font color to match
the blue of the background. I used a green for the body background
and took of the border and curved top to further simplify it. I added
two boxes to put my content in, the hardest part of the project was
getting the boxes to sit next to each other correctly.
