Kleen-Gard Grease Filters are baffle-type filters that reduce
fire hazard and promote sanitation by removing grease from
the air flowing through them and draining it safely away to a
remote container. Their heavy duty construction, together with
their unique design, gives them highly effective flame arrestor
capability by providing a barrier to prevent spreading of rangetop fires. And, their high efficiency protects blower equipment,
prolongs motor life and significantly reduces the frequency,
difficulty and cost of duct cleaning. Aluminum construction
adds an attractive, gleaming appearance and makes them
easier to remove, wash and install.

EASY TO WASH AND HANDLE

The light weight of Kleen-Gard grease filters (a 20" x 20" x 2"
filter weighs only 3 lbs.) makes them easy to remove and
service. In moderate use applications, they are simply run
through the dishwasher. In heavy use applications, a presoak
prior to the dishwasher cleaning is recommended. The heavy
duty aluminum requires no precaution other than that normally
given to aluminum products.
HOW TO SPECIFY
Filters to be fabricated completely of aluminum. Filter baffles to
be semi-circular in form and to have flanges on the ends to
prevent the re-entrainment of the grease into the air stream.
Frame to be formed with a concave web and with 90 flanges at
the end of both legs for added structural strength. Clean
resistance to air-flow to be not more than .56 of water @ 300
FPM. Filters to have an average efficiency of 94% at 300 FPM.

HOW THE KLEEN-GARD GREASE FILTER WORKS

A series of offset, solid baffle plates forces grease-laden air to
change direction as it passes through the filter. The heavierthan-air grease particles become impinged on the baffle
surfaces as the air changes direction and passes through.

The grease, collected on the baffles, then drains off the filter
to a container away from the fire danger area.
EASY INSTALLATION
Kleen-Gard grease filters can be easily adapted to any
standard type canopy or back shelf assembly. They must,
however, be installed at an angle with the baffles in a vertical
direction.
CONSTRUCTION
The baffles and the frame of the KleenGard grease filter are constructed of the
same nonrusting, special strength alloy
aluminum. Extra strength is built into the
frame by the use of dual solid rivets and
by the patented "Web-Lok' frame-a
concave
shaped
design
that
incorporates the inherent strength of a
curve.

To reduce grease deposits and promote sanitation, efficient

grease filters are of extreme importance in kitchen exhaust

systems. RP mesh type grease filters perform these functions

efficiently, economically, conveniently.
Because of their high efficiency they prolong motor life, and
protect blower equipment. Because of their rigidity and
strength, they provide an extra-long and economical service
life. Being light weight, they are easier to handle-when
installing and when washing. Because of their all-aluminum
construction, they never rust or corrode, are easy to clean,

stainless steel equipment.

EASY INSTALLATION
RP grease filters can be easily installed in any type range
canopy-new or existing. They are also available in single unit
or multiple unit "V" assemblies.
CLEANING
For continued efficient operation, RP grease filters are easily
washed in a solution of warm, soapy water or by holding under
a live steam jet or a stream of hot running water. Because
aluminum sheds grease rapidly, no expensive, hazardous
solvents are required.

The frame and the mesh of the RP
grease filter are constructed of nonrusting aluminum. Extra strength is built
into the filter by the patented "Web-Lok"
frame-a concave shaped design that

curve. The sturdy frame, together with
the rigidly held media, adds durability that
significantly extends the service life for greater economy. And,
because this strength is accomplished without extra weight, the
filters are easier to handle-reducing maintenance cost and saving

HOW TO SPECIFY
Filters to be fabricated completely of aluminum. Filter media to
be layers of slit and expanded aluminum, varying in pattern
from coarse on intake to fine at exhaust. Frame to be formed
with a concave web for added structural strength and retaining
legs at both flanges to grip and hold media. Clean resistance
to airflow to be not more than .06" of water at 350 FPM, nor
more than .12" at 520 FPM. Filters to have an average
efficiency of 95% at 350 FPM. Filters to be Series 900
Research Products mesh-type grease filters.
ACCESSORIES
RP grease filters are held in place by RP Handle Locks and
Lift Handles (#995 Ring-Type Handle Lock illustrated at left,
#993 Lift Handle at right). Bail Handle #996 also available.

VELOCITY THROUGH FILTER, FPM

The RP mesh-type grease filter has hundreds of surfaces
scientifically arranged to force contaminant-laden air to
change direction and thus impinge on these surfaces.
Because of this unique design, the mesh grease filter will trap
and hold up to 98% of grease and other foreign matter. In
addition to this high efficiency, RP grease filters operate at
extremely low resistance to airflow (see chart), reducing power
requirements and maintenance frequency.
