1. Class organization:

Procedure: The teacher makes sure the class is prepared for the new lesson and checks if they
are all present. Homework checking
2. Warm up:
Aim:
- to stir interest and promote discussion

- to raise expectations and create involvement in the given task

Time: 3-5 minutes
Interaction: T-Ss
Procedure: T tells the Ss that they are going to revise the vocabulary learnt last time with the
help of the flashcards. T shows the flashcards, Ss say the name of the animals. T tells the Ss to
sing the song they have learnt last time. Ss sing Mommys taking us to the zoo tomorrow.
Activity 1:
Aim:
to introduce new vocabulary
Skills: listening, speaking, writing
Time: 10-15 minutes
Interaction: T-Ss, Ss-T
Procedure: T gives the Ss todays lesson and asks them to look at the picture. Ss recognise
farm animals; tell their name in Hungarian and the T writes their English counterparts on the
blackboard, Ss copy the words into their notebooks. T also shows the Ss some other farm
animals.
Activity 2:
Aim:
to teach how plural nouns are formed
to teach the difference between regular and irregular plurals
Skills: speaking, writing
Time: 10-15
Interaction: T-Ss, Ss-T
Procedure: The T reads the text on page 60, Ss pay attention. T asks the Ss some questions:
How many pigs/ducks/cows/horses are there in the picture? T draws the Ss attention on the
fact that we form the plural of a noun by putting an s at the end of a word, T illustrates on the
blackboard. T also explains that there are some nouns, which have a form for the singular and
another form for the plural.
Activity 3:
Aim:
to reinforce newly learnt knowledge
Skills: speaking
Time: 3-5 minutes
Interaction: T-Ss, Ss-T
Procedure: Ss draw cards containing the name of an animal; Ss have to go to the blackboard
to stick the card in the right column (farm/zoo).
Activity 4:

to have fun learning English
to recognise the name of the animals
Skills: listening
Time: 5 minutes
Interaction: group work

Procedure: Bingo game each group receives a bingo card. T puts the squares in a hat,
drawing them out one at a time. Ss have to cross out the words on their cards, the first group
that crosses out all the words have to shout bingo! They win! T checks by asking one person
from the group to read all the words on the card.

Skills: writing
Time 5-10 minutes
Interaction: group work
Procedure: Ss work in groups, each group is given a worksheet containing an exercise with
the indefinite article and one with plural nouns. Meanwhile the T plays songs about animals
Homework:
Exercise 3 page 61
T explains the activity and goes to the homework orally.
