1. Eligibility And Allied Subjects: An applicant for admission to Ph.D. in the Department of
Mechanical Engineering must possess first class degree at Masters and Bachelors levels. The
eligibility criteria is as follows:
Candidates should have passed with first division a regular course of B.Tech./B.E./B.Sc. Engg in
Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Power Plant Engineering, Chemical Engineering,
Metallurgy, Aeronautical, Automation and Mechatronics.
and
First Division in Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engg., Industrial Engg.,
Thermal Engg., Machine Design. Engg., Environmental Engg., Mechanical Automation, CAD-CAM,
Aeronautical Engg., Chemical Engg., Techonology Management, Systems Management, Operations
Management, Automobile Engg., Applied Mechanics, Fluid Mechanics, Mechatronics and Welding
Technology.
2. A Candidate having M.Tech./Post Graduate in a specific field of specialization and has also
qualified Ph.D. entrance examination of the same specialization (field), then he will be allocated that
same area of specialization for his research area.
A candidate having M.Tech./Post Graduate in a specific field of specialization but has qualified Ph.D.
Entrance Examination of the other field, he will be allocated other field of specialization as his/her
research area on the basis of his qualifying the examination.
Exempted Category Students (ICCR) area of research will be decided on the basis of area of
specialization in Masters course.
