Salute
Memorial Day, the day in which we
honor and remember those who died
while serving in the U.S. military.
The last Monday in May is the yearly
observance.
Originally called
Decoration Day, it developed in the
years following the Civil War. This
War claimed more lives than any
conflict in U. S. History, requiring the
establishment of the first National
cemetery.
From M ay 1862,
remembrances were held, and with the
dawn of World War, Memorial day
would embrace all Americas fallen.
Since 1971, Congress has declared
Memorial Day a National holiday,
including a 3 day weekend, the last
Monday in May, and the beginning of
summer. We appreciate the sacrifice of
our men and women in the military.
Some have given all. We salute them,
and all those veterans who still serve,
those who have retired, and those who
have passed on outside of times of war.
Thank You for your service to our
Great Country.
O God, Our Help In Ages Past
by Isaac Watts
O God, our help in ages past, Our hope
for years to come, Our shelter from the
stormy blast, And our eternal home!
Under the shadow of Thy throne Still may
we dwell secure; Sufficient is Thine arm
alone, And our defense is sure.
Joshua 5:13-15
13: And it came to pass, when Joshua was
by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and
looked, and, behold, there stood a man
over against him with his sword drawn in
his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and
said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our
adversaries?
14: And he said, Nay; but as captain of the
host of the LORD am I now come. And
Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did
worship, and said unto him, What saith my
lord unto his servant?
15: And the captain of the LORD's host
said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off
thy foot; for the place whereon thou
standest is holy. And Joshua did so.
