1. What is a community? A group of people living in the same place or having a particular
characteristic in common.

2. What is community organizing? A social development approach that aims to transform


the apathetic, individualistic and voiceless poor into a dynamic, participatory and
politically responsive community.
3. What is community education? An opportunity for local citizens, community schools,
agencies and institutions to become active partners in addressing education and
community concerns. A wide variety of instructional methods and programs that
educators use to connect what is being taught in schools to their surrounding
communities, including local institutions, history, literature, cultural heritage, and natural
environments. Community-based learning is also motivated by the belief that all
communities have intrinsic educational assets and resources that educators can use to
enhance learning experiences for students.
4. What is community mobilization? A key strategy for increasing demand for and use of
health services, is a process that helps communities to identify their own needs and to
respond to and address these needs. It promotes consideration of the needs of specific
populations and localities. In particular, underserved populations, such as youth and men,
can be reached more effectively through community mobilization. Mobilization also
leads to greater sustainability, as communities are empowered and capable of addressing
their own needs.
5. What is the difference between cooperatives and your regular business
organization? A cooperative is a specialized form of business. Having more in common with a
traditional business than, say, a nonprofit organization, a cooperative distinguishes itself by a
member ownership, benefits, and control model which puts power in the hands of the customers
rather than a single owner or small group of partners.

6. What is the definition of a primitive economy? An economic system heavily


influenced by habits, customs, and religious beliefs. Children generally inherit the
occupations of their parents, and difficult to introduce new ideas.
7. What is the definition of a command economy? An economic system in which the
means of production are publicly owned and economic activity is controlled by a central
authority that assigns quantitative production goals and allots raw materials to productive
enterprises. In such a system, determining the proportion of total product used for
investment rather than consumption becomes a centrally made political decision
8. What is Feudalism? Medieval model of government predating the birth of the modern
nation-state. Feudal society is a military hierarchy in which a ruler or lord offers mounted
fighters a fief (medieval beneficium), a unit of land to control in exchange for a military
service.
9. What is a market economy? An economic system in which the means of production are
publicly owned and economic activity is controlled by a central authority that assigns

10. Characteristics of Industrial Revolution. Some of the characteristics of Industrial
revolution are: Mass production of goods, Lowering of unit costs of goods, Increases in
the general quality of goods, Urbanization Greater demand for raw processing products
as well as coal, Increased international trade.
