Starter and changing time

Students help set up the equipment in the gym

Warm up.
Badminton version of ship to shore.

Activity 1.
Students come in and sit down in front of the
white board.

Teacher Activities

Students will run from one end of the court to the, when
you shout net, or baseline. Shout out different commands,
such as backhand shot, forearm over head stoke, serve and
students will stop and do these skills ( without a shuttle or
bat) and continue on running in the called out direction
Explain todays learning intension:
Today we are looking at the technique of the drop shot ( see
attached sheet for information) and also a poster.
Discuss where it would be used, and also information on
technique. Have the students repeat the information back to
each other to reinforce it.

Activity 2.
Activity 2.
Player A hand throws the shuttle over the net to B, who
steps forward with their dominant foot, to perform a drop
shot. The shuttle should land between the service line and
the net on player As side. Have 10 goes each and then swap
round repeat a couple of times.

Activity 3.
Conclusion
Who managed to use a deep serve in a game?
Who was able to use a forehand over the head
stroke... where did you use this?

Activity 3.
Now repeat a similar process to activity 2, but instead of
returning the shuttle to B try and aim to reach the edge of
the court on either side.

Activity 4.
Students can now play singles or doubles games.
Students now only score points for every drop
shot they successfully make. ( i.e their
opposition couldnt get to it before it hit the
floor)

Conclusion:
Who was able to score points in the game by
using a drop shot?
