Log on to SAP-R/3 ECC OLTP system

steps before extracting Inventory Data

1. 1. Perform mandatory

a.Determine the Industry sector

SBIW-->Settings for app.specific DS->LO->Settings for IC->Execute the Determine Industry
Sector->SAP BW Usage->Select Standard (Core)->Save.

Your

b.Perform Transaction key

maintenance for SAP BW

SBIW->Settings for app.specific DS->LO->Settings for IC-->Execute the Transaction Key

maintenance for SAP BW--> Save.

c. Assign process key by tcode BF11 --> set the flag as active for application components

BW, BC-BW & NDI (text: New dimension Integration)

In some scenarios, if this activity is not performed, it creates problems while loading
data. If we process with the loading activity without performing the below settings,
records are transferred but no records are added in the Cube

1. 2.There

are 2 ways of extracting Inventory controlling data from SAP-R/3(OLTP) to SAP-BI(OLAP)

a. Using Non-cumulative KFs--> If it is daily extraction then use Non-cumulative KFs
method. System is not allowed to maintain DSO as primary data store but InfoCube
allows.
Note: If any Cube maintains a Non-cumulative KF in its structure then it is called Noncumulative InfoCube (ex: 0IC_C03).
b. Using Snapshot method (Uses DSO) --> Primary data store is DSO. After that we can

load data from ODS to IC. Detail level of analysis is not possible in SNAPSHOT method.
c. Inventory Controlling Datasources for data extracting into 0IC_C03,
2LIS_03_BX -->Stock Initialization/Material stocks [Maintains Non-Cumulative KFs]
2LIS_03_BF--> Goods Movements [Maintains Cumulative KFs]
2LIS_03_UM-->Revaluations [This is accomplished by creating a price change
document, without physically moving the goods]
Important tables for IC (Inventory Controlling)
MSEG --> Material Segments
BSEG --> Accounting Segments
MARA -->Material Master
MAKT --> Material text
MARC -->Plant Data for Materialetc
2. 3.Install the Business Content,
a.Go to tcode RSA5 --> Expand SAP R/3 --> MM --> 2LIS_03_BX, 2LIS_03_BF, 2LIS_03_UM -->
Select Activate DS option

b.RSA6

to check the Datasources entries in the Metadata repository for maintains Use
selection, Hide field.
Note: Delta update doesnt support for 2LIS_03_BX
Delta update supports for 2LIS_03_BF and 2LIS_03_UM
c.Check data in the Datasources using extractor checker -->in RSA3
It should shows 0 records for 3 datasources because setup tables are not yet filled.
1. 4. Log on to BI --> check for the R/3 source system --> Replicate the Datasources -->Activate the
2.

Datasources if they are not active. (For BX check the Opening balance under General Info. Tab)
Install and activate the required InfoCube is 0IC_C03
a. Perform pre-installation steps,
i. Maintain the source system assignment
ii. Maintain the required grouping
iii.Maintain the required collection mode
b.Select 0IC_C03 Cube from Business Content tab Drag & Drop into collected objects.
c.Perform post-installation steps,
i. Select Install
ii. Select Match or Copy
iii. Select activate and Install-->Install in background
Note: If the installation process fails, repeat the process till all objects are
successfully installed.
d.Check for the installation of the cube-->Select Modeling -->InfoProviders-->Refresh->Find-->0IC_C03-->you can find the Material stocks/Movements: 0IC_C03
e. Cube holds following Non-cumulative Key figures,
1.0VALSTCKVAL --> Value of Valuated Stock,
Inflow: 0RECVS_VAL--> Value received into Valuated Stock.
Outflow: 0ISSVS_VAL --> Value issued into Valuated Stock.
2.0QMSTOCK --> Stock in Quality Inspection,
Inflow:
0RECQMSTCK--> Receipt Quantity: Stock in Quality Inspection.
Outflow: 0ISSQMSTCK --> Issued Quantity: Stock in Quality Inspection.
3. 0BLOCKSTK --> Blocked Stock
Inflow: 0RECBLOSTCK--> Receipt Quantity: Blocked Stock
Outflow: 0ISSBLOSTCK --> Issued Quantity: Blocked Stock
4. 0CNSSTCKQTY --> Quantity of consignment stock
Inflow: 0RECNSSTCK--> Quantity received into Consignment stock
Outflow: 0ISSCNSSTCK-->Quantity Issued from Consignment stock
5. 0TRANSSTOCK --> Stock in Transit

Inflow:

0RECTRANSST-->Receipt Quantity: Stock in Transit

Outflow: 0ISSTRANSST-->Issue Quantity: Stock in Transit

6. 0TOTALSTCK --> Quantity Total Stock
Inflow: 0RECTOTSTCK-->Receipt Quantity Total Stock
Outflow: 0ISSTOTSTCK --> Issue Quantity Total Stock
7. 0VALSTCKQTY --> Quantity of valuated stock
Inflow: 0RECVALSTCK-->Quantity Received into valuated Stock
Outflow: 0ISSVALSTCK--> Quantity issued from valuated Stock
f.
Create transformations between the Datasources and InfoCube
g.
Make sure all MD objects 0PLANT, 0MATERIAL etc., should be created.
h.
Repeat the f process for BF & UM Datasources
5.Fill the setup tables in R/3
Note:.Delete previous data (03)--> LBWG and Delete Queue--> LBWQ and BW Queue -> RSA7(If any history data holds)
Note: Lock the system; don't allow any transactions from Users.
2.

Stock Initialization
a. Stock Initialization-->Stock Initialization is basically done to set an entry into the
system which leads to the opening stock. Initialize stock using transaction MCNB for
2LIS_03_BX Or you can also find the Initialization of the Opening stock in
transaction SBIW

It gives now initialization run screen where you can restrict by plant, material and storage
location as shown below.
Note: Termination date is in the future.

1. 6. Fill

setup tables for 2LIS_03_BF--> tcode OLI1BW.

You will be asked for the Back Ground Job Print parameters and give LOCAL as the Output

Devices.

1.

Fill setup tables for 2LIS_03_UM --> tcode OLIZBW.You will be asked for the Back Ground Job
Print parameters and give LOCAL as the Output Devices.

7. From BW,
1.

Pull the data for 2LI_03_BX -->its a onetime activity and needs to be done carefully. In the
InfoPackage, choose the upload mode Generate Initial Status

Note: In the InfoCube (0IC_C03), release request with Marker update (No Tick). Marker update is
just like check point--> it will give the snapshot of the stock on a particular date when it was
updated. Marker Update is a special feature available only for Non-cumulative InfoCubes. As we
are using Noncumulative key figure it will take lot of time to calculate the current stock for
example at report time. To overcome this we use Marker update.

1. 8. Pull

the data for 2LI_03_BF --> Init Delta without data transfer.
Note:The Marker has no importance for this request since no data was transferred. Perform full

load. Release the request with No Marker Update Tick. If you choose No Marker Update and
compress the reference point is not updated but the requests are moved to zero (Means request
no. will become 0). Then successive Delta loads must always be compressed with No Marker
Update Tick.

1.

9. Pull the data for 2LI_03_UM --> Init Delta without data transfer.
Note:The Marker ha s no importance for this request since no data was transferred.Perform full
load. Release the request with No Marker Update Tick.and successive Delta loads must always be
compressed with No Marker Update Tick.
Job scheduling to fill the delta queue,Tcode --> LBWE -->Job control --> Schedule the job.
Schedule the delta update in process chain for both the datasources: 2LIS_03_BF and 2LIS_03_UM.
10. Some important Reports Details,
Stock Ledger report
Valuated stock report
Blocked stock reportetc
Thanks,
RK --> CTS
